Volaris flights can now be booked directly on Southwest

I tried it last night side-by-side with mixed results. I like the Southwest website and booking procedure better, but the fares didn't match the fares on Volaris.

I used dates that fell during the Volaris 50% off promo (yesterday was the last day of the promo). The fares on Volaris reflected the discount, but Southwest did not, even after entering the promo code.

So, bottom line if, you want to use Southwest, be sure to check the Volaris fares too.

I also wonder if Volaris will implement frequent flier perks as their partnership with Southwest matures.

Dana

Not so sure that the relationship between Southwest and Volaris is destined to grow. First off, here'ss a quote from a recent LA Times article:

"Southwest describes this service as a connecting product rather than a regular code-share. Passengers will have two separate tickets and will need to check in with each carrier. On return to the U.S., they must claim their bags to go through customs and then recheck them for their Southwest leg. But their bags will be checked through to their final destination and transferred at all connection points by both airlines. "

Second, while historically Southwest has not had any international flights, they recently announced that they were acquiring Air Tran, which does fly to Cancun, Jamaica and Aruba.
