Anyone looking for a free vacation? (or at least part of it paid for)

I am starting to get a little disillusioned about buying a large 5th wheel in Southern Baja for my lot in Loreto. You would think that they would be available for sale but so far, I have not found what I am looking for.

I do not have a pick up that would accommodate a 34+ footer as it probably would need a 1 ton pick up. My Prius just would not work! With the selection up here, I probably can find around a 38 footer that would work for me..

Obviously, the selection in Southern California is vast and I am sure I can find something that will work for me but who out there can tow it down to Loreto? Naturally, nothing in life is free, so if you have the truck that would work, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

I HAVE HAD THIS ON ANOTHER THREAD WITH NO RESULTS, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT HERE. HEY, MR. ADMINISTRATOR, IS THAT OK?

There are many motorhome dealers in Yuma and surrounding area - prime Snowbird country. Might be able to swing your deal from there - at least you could make email inquiries or ask for advice or references.

5th wheel for sale in Camps Ocotilio San Felipe. If you are interested...I will email em to see if it still avail and how much.

I noted that in the year round storage yards...there is trailers - boats for sale...try that source too.

I did what you're planning about 10 years ago. Found a great deal on a trailer (28') in San Diego area ($3000) and then shopped around and found a truck to pull it down with. Got a Ford F250 for about $2500. It was a bit more when we imported it, but still a pretty good deal. Truck made the one trip down, and both are still at our property in Cabo. The truck was great for making trips to the dump, but alas, it no longer works. The camper is still there for our visits, and a home for my step-sons at the moment! suerte, H.

Howard, just out of curiosity, what are you going to do for security on your lot to protect your possessions, personal safety, and the proposed 5th wheel? Do you have a cinder block wall around the lot or is a wall like that unnecessary for security?

I have some lots about 1/5th of a mile east of hwy one and close to the main drag into town. Just curious.

Gosh, Heather...has it been 10 years? I remember well when you first came to the board with your questions & concerns about hauling a trailer and how we all held our breath when you left.

Howard...I would suggest you follow Heather's lead and buy an older truck to haul it down. Then you won't be obligated to anyone else or on anyone else's timeline. It only has to last 1000 miles

I doubt that the Baja Sur Craigslist will have what you're looking for, but you might give it a try:

Who knows? If your Karma is in good standing, you might get lucky.
