Highway 5
Just drove in and the paved road is open 6.2 miles past Campo Tano where it used to end then graded or something because it is much better than it was
after the race, but not a worker or equipment in sight. Left Pemex in San Felipe at 10:05 and walked into the house in Punta Final at 1:05 after
airing down, talking with military kids at the checkpoint and stopping in at Rancho Grande for refreshments.

So, it seems from your post they regraded the road to Gonzaga, beyond the new pavement? It was pretty rough after the 6.2 mile point all the way to
Papa's turnoff last July.

Just got back from our home below San Felipe and did the drive south while we were there on the newest stretch of road which ends a 1/2 mile north of
Okie Landing. Beyond that, the road has very many exposed rocks.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

So...is there any grading on the OLD THAT ROAD beyond the new 6.2 miles that have just been opened or not? .....put another way, is the 22 miles of
the OLD THAT ROAD graded at all in any place?
As I understand Edguero's message some of THAT OLD ROAD has been graded since the Baja 1000 which pretty much wrecked it....if it could have been made
worse...it was when we drove it the week after the race.

In the Baja trip Reprts forum is nearly a duplicate thread as this one... with details on the road beyond the pavement... and the word I got is NO, no
new grading from the pavement to Gonzaga... here it is: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=50068

OKIE LANDING
Photo from Feb. 2007, looking north from the road to the cement pads that were once rooms at Okie (or Okie's) Landing... The 'ice room' to store fish
was a cave in the cliff.

Yeah....I know know exactly where it is now. I always wondered what those pads were for. Thanks for the detailed map David
