That was one of Roberto's rentals in The Orchard...Mulege. On September 2, 2009, Jimena rearranged it's appearance and Roberto's income stream (Pun
unintended but realized). 
The first photo was taken from the river road (runs parallel to the river) looking inward, at the front of the casita. The second (after) photo was
taken from inside The Orchard, looking at the rear of the remains and outward towards the river and beyond.

I think so. I recall that the river actually ran over the bridge during Jimena.

Exactly. The Orchard in Mulege. the "before" image was shot March '06. we were there for a week. Then came John during the summer. I returned in '07
and things didn't look to bad. They were making repairs to this casa and painting. Then came Jimena ('09) and that was the finishing touch. Really
bad. The "after" image was shot last September from a different angle.

Dennis,
This is what I have had to defend since Hurricane John: the people who make statements like yours. I have been accused of being stupid, "King of the
Mud People", bla bla bla.
Here is the truth: Those who lost their homes (mostly along the river) did NOT rebuild. They cleared their lots with bulldozers and
dump trucks. Some (Roberto) did not.
Those of us whose houses withstood the three floods in five years cleaned up with bleach, pressure washed woodwork, refinished and repainted where
necessary. The landscaping; banana, citrus and palm trees on our lots survived. Most of us had insurance. Those whose homes were destroyed were
totaled out by their insurance companies and collected for the full value. Those who didn't have insurance weren't so lucky.
The rest of us (like me) collected for ruined furniture, appliances and cleanup. To repeat, we did NOT "rebuild"!There is still some
rubble from those who did not clean up their destroyed houses. Little by little that is being cleaned up.
And the best part... we are still able to get insurance...for less than $300.00, we have great fishing, great restaurants, great
friends, both gringo and locals, and great weather except for August, September and 1/2 of October.
Would you abandon all that, considering the above paragraph and the money we have invested? That would be stupid!

You have seen photos of my house. Those are after flood photos. You have an open invitation to come down and visit. I have an extra bedroom for
you. See for yourself.
We still have beautiful houses in a beautiful setting. We have a place to go every year.
While it is true that I have been trying to sell it for $50K, there have been no takers. Not many are coming down due to the economy, the cartel
violence (which is NOT a factor down here), and of course, the potential for Hurricane/flooding.

tony...take it easy....we don't need any new neighbors down here....i like you...you are a great neighbor...don't make me meet someone new; it takes
too much energy....and they may wash away next september...mulege is a wonderfully quiet, modest, non intrusive, little town....let's stay that
way...i think it would be a mistake to invite "growth" or "development" to this community...i don't think they are ready for it , and i dont think
they want or embrace it...

The new houses in The Orchard came through in fairly good condition all things considered. This one was vacant and unlocked with a for sale sign.
