Whale Watching- Guerrero Negro
We will be leaving next wk for a whale watching trip out of Guerrero Negro. Has anyone been there recently and have a report on the status of the
whalles, i.e. numbers, etc.?

they do a census every 2 weeks so and the new one should be done next week. The last census was near 700 whales in the lagoon...way up from last year
and so i imagine there will be well over 8 or 900 whales now...maybe hit a thousand.
I called the lagoon and they said there are hardly any tourists at all and our friends had a whole panga to themselves...only 2 people and they had a
fantastic experience with whales right at the boat...lots of new calves too...so you will have a wonderful trip.

We were out there the last 3 days camping, watching& listening from shore--cost$5.00. We also took the 1 1/2 hr panga trip -- cost $40.00per
person. Great trip saw lots of whales up close touched several.A small whale had died & we watched a shark take a bite out of it. I belive i saw a
babby nursing . Took pistures & some video --will try to post later.

oh George that's fantastic! I'm so pleased for you!
I just got the results from the last census for Ojo de Liebre on Feb.8th...drum roll please.....756 adults, 524 crias (babies) for a grande total of
1,280!!!!! most excellent and we havent even reached the peak yet...the next census should be interesting. Nice to see the numbers up. Can't wait for
our first nomad trip in a couple weeks!
There sure have been alot of whales heading north all ready....seems early to me but we have been enjoying the parade past our patio.

We just returned from Guerrero Negro and our whale watching trip. Estimated total whale count was 1400 with about half newborns. We had a fantastic
time.

Great to see so many whales this year.
What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

I know this thread is about current conditions but I had to share this: A day my mother- in- law will never forget at 85 years young in 2008.
