What the heck was that sound?

You are deep in a desert canyon. All is quiet and then you hear this loud silvery song, a decelerating, desending series of liquid tee's and tew's. You don't know what might be getting ready to jump out of the bushes and then you see him!

A little 5 inch long bird poking around in the rocks looking for a bug to eat, The Canyon Wren.

Now compare that to the grating rattle of the cactus wren.

Around us, they usually "sing" in the morning and it is not a pleasant sound to wake up to.

Love all of your bird images, BigOly. Thanks for sharing.

We don't see too many canyon wrens in my part of the state. The best place I've encountered them was at Red Rock Canyon, just past the town of Mojave.
