Some winter color in Loreto/Nopoló
All victims of ancient gringo creeping around Nopoló early in the morning this past Friday and again yesterday, with a camera. I'm happy to see
interest in nature among the Nomads. Baja has very accessible nature in great abundance, and it often seems under-appreciated. These shots were taken
in the space of 3 hours in much less than a square mile of territory. There were easily 25 other species available, but these had most of the bright
colors.
Vermivora celata - chipe oleváceo - orange-crowned warbler
Geothlypis trichas - mascarita común - common yellowthroat
Pipilo chlorurus - rascador de cola verde - green-tailed towee
Anas crecca - cerceta de ala verde - green-winged teal
Cardinalis sinuatas - Card##al desértico - pyrrhuloxia
Cardinalis cardinalis - Card##al norteńo - Northern cardinal
Passerina amoena - colorín lázuli - lazuli bunting
Passerina versicolor - colorín morado - varied bunting
Pyrocephalus rubinus - mosquero Card##alito - vermilion flycatcher

Thanks for posting these, Tehag.
I've never seen a varied bunting before. Are they rare or have I just been unlucky?
My favorite, though, is the common yellowthroat warbler. We used to call him the "masked man". They would sometimes appear in the rushes at our golf
course but never frequent enough to become boring. He's a real character.

Birds
Skipjack.
Not really rare, but mostly seen in heavy cover and poor light looking plain black.

Wow.
Fantastic photos. How lucky to have such a variety right there at the end of your camera.
I'm loving these nature threads.

awesome photos. What equipment do you use? I have one of the binocular cameras, but haven't figured out how to use it yet. Any experience with this?
