Small but irritating quirk on board
Doug: whenever a thread goes multiple pages, the thread title shows how many pages like this (pages: 1, 2,...X) with 'X' being the last page. When I
see a larger 'X' than I remembered, I click on it and then find I need to select 'X-1' because the few replies that I missed are on the bottom of the
next to last page. Our world would be a teeny bit improved if you could make the title appear like this: (pages: 1,...X-1,X).
I know squat about programing this stuff as I bailed after a semester of Basic and Fortran IV.
edit: Oh, and another thing; when a page gets full of responses, just about ready to make a new page, you have to scroll all the way back up to the
top to get to "Today's Posts". I've already seen everyone's pictures of their fish, food, trucks, stairways etc going down the page.
A "Today's Posts" link at the bottom of the page would remove this small, tiny irritant.

You can put a today's posts bookmark on your browsers "bookmark toolbar' and instead of having to scroll the page, at any time just click your
bookmark link to today's posts. You may find that if you organize bookmarks it makes browsing much faster for all your favorite sites.
The other issue you mention with page references, can not be changed easily, it is an attempt to list many pages, potentially a long list of pages so
it must be truncated at some point, presumably the next to last page is the best spot as opposed to the second to last page for the thread.

Santiago,
I know you meant me as a Quirk, ignore those impostors, and stand by for a terrible payback!

At the end of a long read...I just hit one of the three little arrows on the lower right ..just below the Post Reply box.
It scoots you up to the top..no need to scroll. Easy from there to Today's Posts.
Must take all of 1-2 seconds...
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

I think Quark is more appropriate:
In nature, quarks are not isolated. These are always in groups, called hadrons , two or three quarks, known as mesons and baryons respectively. This
is a direct consequence of color confinement . In 2003, experimental evidence was found of a new partnership of five quarks, the pentaquark[ 1
]although their existence is still controversial. [
on the other hand a Quirk is:
1. A peculiarity of behavior; an idiosyncrasy: "Every man had his own quirks and twists" (Harriet Beecher Stowe).
2. An unpredictable or unaccountable act or event; a vagary: a quirk of fate.
3. A sudden sharp turn or twist.
4. An equivocation; a quibble.

Santiago---I know what you mean. You might try to see if you can load more posts per page...it should be in the settings somewhere.
In the best of all worlds I'd like to see a photo loader like on Facebook--I would think server space is cheap these days but I don't really
know....(not a complaint Doug, just a nudge---your site is awesome!)

Such things are "pre-built" (or pre-scripted) in the software. While "I hear you" - in this case, it's something for now I'll need to leave as-is.

While that would be easier to implement - I would point out Pompano's note about the triple-arrows linking you back to the top of the page for just
that reason.

Correct.

Hard drive space is getting cheaper - and frankly there's a lot of unused capacity on the system as-is right now. Part of the issue is that the
software under the current version adds photo attachments directly into the database. The latest version of the board software does not though -
which would make managing the images incredibly easier. So, I'm looking into everything involved for me to make that upgrade to the newer version of
the board software sometime this year. The new software version allows multiple attachments in a post as well - something a lot of people have said
they'd like to see as a feature.
fyi,

But that has other connotations, I guess.

Pomp: Now why didn't I think to try those three arrows? Good one there.
Mike: I hear ya, but soon I won't have so much time anymore as the market in NorCal is finally starting to, dare I say, heat up a bit - phone's
ringing a lot - maybe not off the wall but a lot and I just got my first prevailing wage job and I've been told I will spend the next month just
trying to figure out the paperwork so I can pay the workers and get paid myself. Did you know straight pay to a carpenter in my town must get almost
$60/hour?? That makes my $300/hour atty fees not seem so bad.
Mexitron: I didn't know you could change the posts-per-page so thanks for that.
