SENTRI Pass Extended

Not sure if this was touched on or not but they just extended the SENTRI pass from 2 to 5 years before you have to renew. I was in Otay Mesa yesterday w/ the family getting our passes and they mentioned this to me. If you are already a SENTRI pass holder you don't have to do a thing, you will automatically be extended out to 5 years. There is no additional cost either. The price is still the same and they couldn't tell me when/if it would be going down. I felt $194.50 for a family of 4 for 5 years wasn't bad!

I am confused?

I have had my Sentri for a few years now and it was 5 years back then, am I missing something?

The lady who processed our paperwork said it was a "recent" thing. I don't know. We were going into it thinking it was a 2 year deal so we were pleasantly suprised.
