A Good Friend Passed Away Today

Some of you knew her... she was a very wonderful lady...

Blanca Medina passed away today... Details are scarce... but from what I understand, she had been hospitalized since December...

I received a call from a friend of hers in Ensenada who gave me the bad news...

She will be sorely missed by many...

Rest In Peace Blanca...

Could very well be. From Teniente's post on Talk Baja:

Blanca Medina Hernandez
Virgilio Uribe #649 local 15
Plaza Delfines C.P. 22800
Ensenada Baja California
Cel. (646) 117 3442

If you are in the Ensenada area, I highly recommend Blanca.

I have asked my friend to please send to me her son's name and email address which I will post here with their permission, so if anyone so wishing may send their condolences to the family...

I am sad beyond words...

Perhaps Bajamigo Vince will post an obit when he sees one. He reads the daily papers.

And I'm hoping her son will take over her business. This is a big loss to all of Ensenada. Blanca always had a smile and kind word. We will miss her.

I used Blanca for my FM3. She said she would e-mail me when it was due for renewal. Should I look around for another immigration intermediary, or is her son going to take over? Yes, a very nice person and highly thought of in her line of work.

I think they have to have the paperwork into the office two weeks before expiration. You can look at the date in the booklet to establish that.
If I were you, I'd be getting things together....new photos etc. Start a thread and get the requirments. They'll vary, depending on location, so just do all of it.
Under the circumstances, you may get assistance from the INM office and do it yourself.

Blanca's son, Arturo, is taking over Blanca's business. He is in the same center but they changed the location on the office. It is upstairs and the last office, near the street. He is a very nice gentleman.

He has the same email as Blanca. vlanka7@hotmail.com His cell number is 646 131 7982

Blanca had a tumor in her pancreas and had been very ill since November.

Pancreatic cancer is among the worst possible diagnoses. There is a less than 5% survival rate at 5 years. The insidious problem is that it develops symptom-free for so long that when someone notices a problem, it is likely too late.

I would take some solace in the idea that if what has been reported is correct, Blanca did not suffer for a prolonged period of time.

My mother passed from this disease. It was misdiagnosed, and she underwent three different surgical procedures; basically living in pain for four years.

I met her in Rosarito a few years back. Very nice woman and I am sure that she will be dearly missed by her family and close friends.
