More Dove 2/25

I have some bird seed now and am just putting it on the ground out in front. I really need some ideas on making a feeder platform or something I can bring in a little closer that the birds will not shy from. ??

Good shots, Russ.
It's hard to understand why someone would use a gun large enough to blow the door off a vault to shoot these peaceful little critters.

I'll work on the bird bath idea. I need to put it some where close for photos and yet away from the glare of the water. Thanks

Russ...doves are ground feeders. Just toss the feed out on your patio. A flat tray of dirty water is good...or a dripping faucet like I use.

Load your double barrel 12 gauge with #8 shot. Then line up as many doves in a tight group as possible and pull both triggers.

Invite the neighbors for a dove breast barbeque.

This is ultimately more humane ..and much more normal..than buying frozen chickens tortured and killed by Tyson Foods. :saint:

...and I HOPE you know this is a good jest. If you don't, I've wasted my time.

russ, your photos are great.

after you've made your birdfeeder, if you have trouble with sprouting seed that is on the ground, you can sterilize it in the oven before serving it to the birds. bake 1 pound on a cookie sheet in a 300º oven for 30 minutes. it doesn't harm the nutritional value of the seed and it won't sprout.

Durell... The last thing I want is to seem like a know-it-all but your pet duck is actually an Aliuck. We saw a lot of these, along with the Fardinal you posted, when we took a private cruise to cross the Arctic Circle. I remember seeing them fly over as we drank until the sun went down. I don't remember the sun going down but it does go down sooner or later.
