Zimmern in Baja

Yesterday on the travel channel, Andrew Zimmern visited TJ, Ensenada, La Paz and Cabo. Don't remember the names of all the restaurants but lots of interesting stuff; Gooey Duck clams and diving for Chocolatas, a couple of places specializing in combining seafood with beef and even Bulls' Balls.

There will probably be a rerun sooner or later.

All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.

Saw it a few months ago... I like his shows, even if I don't eat bugs or eye balls!

He is Always Respectful of the Culture

Even if his shtick is "Gross-Out Cuisine".

People eat to survive, but I am a propbably not going to order a plate of grasshoppers, worms and scorpions, if I have other choices.

Thanks for the link, Jan.
I'll try my local Bev Mo, and the other place that seems to be growing in Orange County is Wine and More.

see the grasshoppers

it is interesting how cultures vary foodwise - the southern states of veracruz, oaxaca, tabasco and chiapas LOVE grasshoppers, worms and ants. these are considered a delicacy in those parts ...

Here is a picture taken at a local market in Oaxaca : grasshopper snacks:
