Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

So, five great trips to Baja last year... and I still didn't get enough! I need to go back... ASAP!

1) We had a nice visit with BajaRob and Connie we all took a ride into the back country looking for an old mine (or lost mission?) and were treated to Rob's gourmet cooking (his corned beef hash and eggs are the bomb!).

2) We got to caravan with old and new friends over Baja's toughest road to the Jesuit's last mission (last 'known' mission that is). It will be remembered the rest of our lives by those that were there, including: Neal Johns, Baja Bucko, edm-1 (Art), CG, Kurt G, hbmurphy (Paul), BajaTripper (Steve), Baja Angel and I.

3) With warmer weather and water, we love summer on the Sea of Cortez and for July 4th weekend Ken Cooke and his new bride as well as Art (edm-1) in his 4WD motorcoach would join us. Now Art has put so much into this van including front and rear ARB lockers, so all four wheels get equal power, but the bottomless sand of Shell Island still got him. Not to fear, before the high tide swallowed him, we spoted him nearly 2 miles down the beach where he got stuck and came to the rescue. Once Art was convinced to let more air out of the tires and steer downhill, (towards the water!), he was good as gold and loved driving the island in his motor home.

4) It was strangely cooler and windy for 4th of July, so we returned to Shell Island in 2 weeks hoping for warmer conditions... Interested in seeing the progress of the paving towards Gonzaga Bay, we went home southward with a stop at Coco's Corner and the night at Baja Cactus Motel in El Rosario.

5) For my birthday, we returned to Baja Cactus in El Rosario and took a day trip to the Las Pintas petro and fossil grotto... visiting the top end by Tacoma for the first time. It was amazing!

That rounds up 2010... five great trips, but wish it was ten!

REALLY GREAT condensation, David!
We are going south next weekend (Apr 16, 17).

(Need to make a tequila run!)
p.s. other people call it a taco stand run.

Nice job David!

I am always game for a Baja adventure... what I need is some income (jobs) or ???. I can leave for Baja on very short notice, so don't count me out until the day before! The Tacoma is ready!
