No, don't even bother. They are really slow. Had a bad experience with them and it wasn't even the pictures of Obama and Hilary on the wall that upset me.

Kate
I have no idea what the ride there would cost(probably more than La Paz) but do not have them wait.
In front of and to the right of Tango Tango there are taxis lined up. Just walk back up to the main drag and you will see them.

Judy is right with her info. At bus station up in Cabo...it may be hard to find a taxi as most tourist do not go that far into town. Ask someone at the bus station which "white city bus" will you take to Tanga Tanga. I think that will cost around 10 pesos. I'm guessing a taxis back to the bus station will cost at least 70 pesos.

Or, assuming you will get off the bus in Cabo and not San Jose, if memory serves me correctly, the walk from the bus station to the complex where the consulate is located is 15-20 minutes.

Morgaine.....getting your passport renewed in Cabo is easy....and I'll never go anywhere else. I bet you can get a bus right from where Aguila drops you off and get real close that way. Taxi from there shouldn't be much though.
The problem you might run into is the clown show that is the US Government. If they can't pass the budget soon........I think passport stuff comes under "non essential" employees and might be subject to the shutdown. Long trip for nothing if that happens.

Kate - I did this 2 years ago and took a local bus (pasero, sp?) from the bus station to the consulate - only cost about 8 pesos one way. You just walk across the street from the bus station to the pasero bus stop and get one that says 'centro' or just ask the driver if it's going where you need to go. They run frequently - I only waited about 5 minutes at the most. To come back to the bus station, get another one going back on the main street outside of the consulate.

But right - be careful if the gov't shuts down, the consulate might not be open.
