FEDERAL SAN QUINTIN D.F. POLICE CHIEF ASSASSINATED
I was at a restaurant in Ensenada this past weekend (4/15-4/17), and was reading in a LOCAL PAPER that the Federal District Police Chief of San
Quintin was assassinated. The paper was at the register when I was paying for the tab, and did not get the full details...only the headline.
Anyone on Nomads have any further details??

I just heard about it last night - what i heard was that he was killed at / near the border. His name was Guillermo Plata Camacho and I had the
pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions. He seemed like a real straight shooter and most people here who knew him are still in shock...

I guess that since everyone has become so very sensitive to the corruption issues and the cartel issues. I'll make the first stab at asking what the
heck was he doing near the Otay garita?

Don't see it that way, Howard. I see Mexico, the US and the rest of the world becoming numb to the issue. Indignation has come to a frustated halt
and acceptance is taking over.
I can't imagine the future, but the drug industry has, in my opinion, won the war.
It's the army of greed and need in the south coupled with the army of desire in the north that have beat us. There is no way to fight this. We
waited too long.

Authorities seize marijuana hidden in a shipment of beach pebbles at the Tecate port of entry.
SAN DIEGO — Federal authorities seized nearly 10,000 pounds of marijuana hidden in truck shipments at the Tecate and Otay Mesa cargo ports this week,
according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
On Wednesday, nearly 4,900 pounds of pot were discovered hidden among pallets of beach pebbles at the Tecate crossing.
A few hours later at the Otay Mesa facility, a customs dog alerted on a tractor-trailer hauling yellow peppers. Forty-nine packages of marijuana
totaling 304 pounds were found.
On Thursday evening, officers at Otay Mesa found a cellophane-wrapped package in a box amid a shipment of cilantro, chives and mint. The bundle turned
out to be 4,200 pounds of marijuana.
The three seizures had an estimated total street value of about $6 million.
The drivers, who are Mexican citizens, were arrested.

He was building a house just in front of us. We will miss him. He had been here only a little more than a year. He would come in on Sundays with many
other Officers to enjoy the Buffet. No officers in today. That seems funny but then I remember why.
Rest In Peace.

When I crossed @ Otai on Friday, was wondering why so many police cars were heading in one direction.
Didn't find out until Sunday morning.

Well, lets see now. Dope of the 60's kids. Having kids, with kids growing up in a doped home. That makes those kids, (not all of course) getting
access from their parents of their dope. Those kids are now raising their families, doing dope and the "young ones" watching them smoking the stuff,
and getting high. So wonder why there is so much dope coming out of Mexico??? Then there is the marajuana coming out of Northern Cal mountains. Much
of that is going north into Oregon/Washington???? reading Oregon news weekly on the internet, not uncommon for the cities in Ashland/Medford/Grants
Pass/Roseburg & the state police pulling over cars on I-5 for some infractions, and finding large amounts of marajuana, and last names of the
persons arrested being of Spanish descent. Add this all over the U.S. and what we have is a cess pool that our grandkids and great grand kids are
falling into!!!! BUT. won't have to worry about it after December of 2012. End of the Mayan calendar???? Stand by for more news on Coast to Coast
Broadcasting station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Another Martyr to the war on drugs. May God rest his soul.
Come on American drug users, stop the demand for the product. Good people are dying so you can smoke pot and crack, snort coke, or shoot smack. Your
as guilty as the guys who pulled the trigger. Please, just stop!
