End of Mayan Calendar. What are you doing
How many people are making preparations for this event, and what are you doing to get ready for it???????? Where will you be that day. Will any of
you be flying to Baja that day?

I'll be doing exactly what I did for Y2K -- absolutely nothing. This 2012 stuff is all hogwash designed to sell books, movies and advertising.

Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first
time in about 26,000 years. This means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on
12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time," Joseph writes.
But scholars doubt the ancient Maya extrapolated great meaning from anticipating the alignment — if they were even aware of what the configuration
would be.
Astronomers generally agree that "it would be impossible the Maya themselves would have known that," says Susan Milbrath, a Maya archaeoastronomer and
a curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History. What's more, she says, "we have no record or knowledge that they would think the world would come
to an end at that point."
University of Florida anthropologist Susan Gillespie says the 2012 phenomenon comes "from media and from other people making use of the Maya past to
fulfill agendas that are really their own."

Sad thing is that there are so many "end-timers" that are actually influencing public discourse. I'm sure this thread was begun in a spirit of
lightheartedness. Just really kinda wish everyone would chill a bit.
Another take on this would be that the Maya don't count. So why even think about it.

I'm going to set down with a case of cervesa, the good stuff of course, and listen to Coast to Coast AM with George Noory and see what happens. Either
I'll wake up with a hangover or I'll be dead, maybe from all the drinking. By the way why is it called AM when it comes from LA and is on at 10pm
here? Some of the nuts are actually fun to listen to.

According to some outfit out of Oakland, Ca the end is coming on May 21, 2011. Supposedly they've done the math and the world will be coming to an
end 31 days from now. Check out familyradio.com for more info. I'm in a quandry, should I risk a late charge on my bills or live it up for a month?

Having narrowly survived - and frankly still dealing with - the powers and spirits of the Great Harmonic Convergence of August 16 and 17, 1987 (which
was also premised upon the Mayan Calendar), I believe I am powerless to make any physical preparations for the upcoming Mayan Calendar event of
December 21, 2011.
However, based upon other "signals" and "vibes" I continue to receive from the Harmonic Convergence, and from my vantage point here in the Pacific
Northwest, I do have a prediction and it goes along these lines:
To mitigate both the personal and political effects of Global Warming, including the proposed "carbon tax", Sasquatch will migrate to the cooler north
- simultaneously, Yeti will migrate to the warmer south - where they will have a "chance meeting" somewhere near a border, and these long lost cousins
will produce a baby just in time for the upcoming major Mayan Calendar event. If their batteries stay charged, some of this may be revealed on both
facebook and twitter.
Predictably, the birth certificate will not be revealed, which will in turn cause a series of lasting problems; some more immediate, like snags with
CPB (Customs and Border Protection); and others more long term, like whether baby will be lawfully entitled to run for President of a country.
In addition, and similar to the profoundly important, long-running debate on Baja Nomads about whether a taco should be eaten with one tortilla or
two, Sasquatch and Yeti will disagree on whether Jack Link's 100% beef jerky should come wrapped in one cover of plastic or two.
Because I am powerless to make any physical preparations, I will just have to remain open minded until December 21, 2012 - and hopefully beyond- to
see if my prediction bears fruit.
By the way, does anyone know - like with Y2K - which time zone we will all be watching to determine what happens when the clock strikes 12? Or at
least which time zone in Baja? b1
