Tourist card at Mexicali?
Is it easy, like at TJ?
Otherwise is there any hope to get one in San Felipe?
Primarily I'm asking since we will be entering at Mexicali and eventually be south of Guerrero Negro and perhaps need a visa returning north through
there.

Easy, except I've only gotten them (pre FM3 days) at the East crossing. Have pesos to pay at the bank window which is right there just like TJ.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Tried to get a tourist card in Mexicali last summer. The clerk wouldn't grant me one with just a Sentri card, a California drivers license and an
expired passport. Waited an hour for his boss to get back from lunch. The boss showed up with extended family. After half an hour all the nieces got
kisses and complimented and the nephews were rewarded for good behavior and everyone was happy.When Jefe got to business he said "You don't need this.
Save your money, you will be fine."
I stayed a couple days in SF and took a gravel road south (Is that the 5?) and cut across to Gurero Negro. Came back up the 1. Never had a problem and
never got asked for a tourist card.
These endless lands and unique waters are not simply soil and sea. These elements of earth and water are as much a part of me as my blood and organs.

Last word from Nomads is there no longer is a INM officer at the state border (Eagle Monumant near Guerrero Negro)...? I know you are just dotting all
your i's, and will probably try and get one at Mexicali. Good Luck!

If you are crossing at the Old Calexico/Mexicalli crossing,
as opposed to the newer east crossing, I was in the Old
crossing Immigration office a yr. ago, picked up the free 7
day card. It was located 100 ft. or so to the left, just after you enter
the Mex Customs red/green light entry. I cannot give
bank teller details, that is where you pay the fmm fee,
I assume it is close, but don't know
as to exactly where. My experience with parking at that
Imm office has been is that there isn't any. I ended up
parking 5 blks into Mexicalli. I would try to cross during
regular hrs. By regular hrs. I mean if you have to go to
a bank in Mexicalli, which is possible, I would plan to
cross during business hrs

Tourist card. Mexicali. Sunday. Is that office open. Do I still have to pay at a bank? Is the bank open? Any input welcome.

If you are talking about the old downtown Calexico/
Mexicalli crossing, I would expect that office to be open,
can't guarantee that at 2 am, but I believe it is
open 24, as for a bank window on Sun., not sure,
if not, Mex Imm has in the past issued you an fmm
with the condition that you pay at a bank down the
road, within 3-5 days

We were at Mexicali east on March 29th, very easy and quick process for my USA friends and the bank takes dollars, steps away from the customs office
and yes they are open on Sundays.

January this year we used East gate, got FMM's, walked to the bank a short walk down, payed for it, returned. The official then gave us our passports
back, stamping them first. We were planning on more than Baja and Sonora Hassel-Free zone.
Otherwise, who actually does get cards? I've seen the lines of cars heading through Sonoyta to Rocky Point without stopping (the intention of the
hassel-free zone, I'm sure) and enjoy the Mexican coastline (and leave some cash).
