Apostoli's in Los Barriles

We have eaten here now 3 times, twice for lunch and once for dinner. The first lunch was pretty good, we had the gyro lunch selection. A little on the pricey side but was a worthwhile experience.

The second lunch was not as good as the first visit but the novelty of a Greek based restaurant was positive.

Decided to have dinner. First problem was the baby in a stroller crying in the dining room. Second problem was a 6-7 year old girl running around, both inside and outside. Baby seemed to belong to the waitress, the other to another gal visiting inside with their dog.

Some toast with a small plate of hummus was provided as a free appetizer, ok.

I ordered the fish fillet Medeterranian style. Came with beets, some potato, and something like wheat berries? For $180 pesos it was acceptable.

My wife ordered the lamb chunks but they were out. Instead she ordered the lamb shish kabob. This came with a small cup of cold rice, a small puddle of a whiteish semi liquid (yoghurt something?), and about 8 tiny pieces of lamb maybe 3/8" x 1" or smaller with several being quite fatty. This sumptious portion was priced at $300 pesos!!!

With one beer and a bottle of water, the tab was $525 pesos plus tip. The waitress was quite adequate.

So, we will not be going back there. There are many other restaurants in Los Barriles that offer far better value and in most cases, better food than Apostoli's. If this is typical of their food, they won't last the summer.

I've eaten there a number of times and it has always been fantastic. Having said that, Apostoli has been there every time I have eaten there. I'm sure he would appreciate some constructive criticism.....as he probably doesn't follow Baja Nomads I will mention it to him the next time I go there.....assuming that he is still in business of course......dt
