There is a containment boom around the aircraft. Noticeable odor of jet fuel present.

rhintransit . . . we do only hear sirens for parades around here. I thought the sirens were background noise during an interview on Fox News from some American village.

they blasted down Salvaterra at high speed...something I'd never seen/heard. all of us at Ladies Luncheon at Mexico Linda were amazed.
guess I'll do a drive by and see the latest tourist attraction later today.

Kind of reminds me of the Japanese airliner that ended up in the mudflats on approach to San Francisco airport back in 1968. Below is a link to the story. Jim

http://www.oem.com.mx/elsudcaliforniano/notas/n2066695.htm

This article says the took off from Loreto and reported a mechanical problem and returned. Only the pilot and co-pilot were aboard. The picture shows the landing gear is up, which would be correct for a planned ditching in the water. The plane is right off the south end of the runway.

Mulege Jim>

Iwas the Adjuster on the Dc 8 japan Airliner that went into SF Bay on Nov. 22 I968 with 187 passengers on Board and No Injuries.

The Pilot committed Hari Kari 10 years later to the date of the Accident. He dialed in a 1,000 Ft/ error on his Altimeter Settings.

My bigest problem was getting the Aircraft out of 7 feet of Mud and Water.
