Great shots Russ. Don't know why but we are getting lots of birds here at East Cape now that are very rare for this area. Seeing Lazuli Bunting at Mike O'dell's place along with some other wonderful strangers.

There are quite a few quail here but they're pretty spooky so don't come around my yard very often.

Russ, this is the first time I've seen a red finch. Perhaps it has another name down south.

Lazuli Bunting

Seldom seen indeed! The Lazuli Bunting is a great surprise to see up an arroyo at a watering hole in LB. Pictured here is a first year bird. These birds are named after lapis Lazuli, a beautiful stone mined in Afghanistan some say wars were fought over.

Appears the quail have a new feeding station here. I have 5 or 6 here now.

We get tons of quail out here in our area. Some of the guys working on the house keep traps up out in back and often catch several in a single afternoon...

A good friend made a trap and set it out in his alfalfa field in San Bruno and got 42 on the first day.
