There is also a google earth file of the race course posted.

If you go in a north by northwest direction (11 o'clock) from VCP 16 across the arroyo is the Pole Line Rd.

I have been told that a new road was cut going to the summit and it is going to cause a lot of problems. Up and down with switchbacks and very steep in places. Military check points out there and near the wells south of Laguna Salada. They went thru everything I'm told.

Funny, but why do they need all those visual check points if they are using the logging trackers? Or will there actually be VCP people in place race day?

I was wondering the same thing Tom. 33 VCs in 400 miles is certainly a lot.

I was told a VCP is a Virtual Check Point. It's basically an absolute location the vehicle must get close to with their logger to avoid a penalty.

So there is no 'real person' there to write down numbers and that is why it is a virtual (electronic) checkpoint and not a visual check point!?:light:

Paul Fish? Must be Sal's son with a last name like that! What happens to SCORE after Sal? Is there some lind of corporate board or does Sal own it directly? Mickey Thompson created it, then put Sal in charge so Mickey could race SCORE without some conflict of interest. Mickey was real neat people... I talked with him at Riverside in 1974.

Paul is Sal's brother. As far as I know Sal owns SCORE, I assume as a corp.

Didn't I real a few years ago that Score had been sold to a financial company in Colorado who kept Sal as the head guy?

You guys are so funny....Paul Fish is not Sal's brother or son....he is his nephew!!!

Sal and Barbara never had their own children.

SCORE is owned by Sal Fish, he's never sold it and no other investors at this time.

Their is a plan to move forward...

How about Danny Thompson... what has become of him... and why didn't dad leave him a per-centage of SCORE (just wondering)? Maybe he gets plenty of Royalties off M/T Tires and other products with his dad's name on it?

This from, Google dated Nov 8, 2010.

Danny Thompson, the son of Mickey Thompson, has a need for speed that's satiated when he hits the salt flats in his 1,300-horsepower Ford Mustang. Thompson had previously recorded a top speed of 252 miles per hour but recently headed back to the flat lands for an attempt at the 300-mph mark. Problems arose as Danny passed 260 mph. The car began to lift and then left the ground at approximately 264.7 mph. Danny and his Mustang traveled 1,100 feet before returning to the salt and the car tumbled further before coming to a stop.

Amazingly, and a testament to just how good proper safety equipment is, Danny escaped from the wreck with no injuries. He didn't have minor injuries, scratches or bruises... he was completely unharmed. Well, maybe physically, as a wreck like that can probably keep you awake at night for a few months. Also unharmed? The iPhone 4 sitting in his front pocket.

I believe Ted Johnson still has a share of SCORE, from when it was started...
We Dominic Clark to issue a press release...

Thanks for that Tom!

I have a photo of Mickey and Danny going over the Chevy LUV truck (with a 454 in the bed)... They were stopped at the Valle de Trinidad pit in 1975 for the second Score Baja Internacional (500)... If it took just horsepower to win Baja, Mickey would have won all the races he was in!

At Valle Trinidad checkpoint, world speed record holder and founder of SCORE, Mickey Thompson pulls up in his Chevy LUV truck with a rear/ bed mounted 454 V-8 engine. It utilized an Oldsmobile front wheel drive installed on the back.

Here's Mickey Thompson who was racing with his co-driver son, Danny (examining the wheel).
