Our whale video, cool footage!

My wife and I just returned from two and a half months in Baja doing an epic sea kayaking trip. Before we made it to the Sea of Cortez, though, we stopped off at Laguna Ojo de Liebre and Laguna San Ignacio for three days of whale watching. An incredible experience! This was back in March, and we had tons of contact with friendly whales. I put together some video (including a bit of underwater footage) and still shots we took and put it on youtube:

Click here to check it out.

I hope you enjoy it,
Andy

Beautiful AndyP!! Wonderful images. Looks like both the whale kids and the human kids were having a great time. Your underwater footage really adds to the experience. What month was this? [oooops I see you said it was in March :)]

Humbling....isn't it. We are so insignificant in the big picture.
Thanks.

Thanks everyone. Marv, the music is a song called "In the Twilight" by Alexander on his self-titled album. A great cd.

that was fantastic...neat how the whale in the photo in this thread is looking at the camera!

Here is a little whale anecdote that I thought of while watching those kids jammin with that calf. In the early 90's when friendly whales were extremely rare...maybe 5-6 a season up on vancouver island...I was very curious about this phenomenon and when I reviewed my data I was surprised to find that ALL our friendly encounters happened when there were children on board!!!

I used to hear grown ups complaining if there were kids going on a whale watch with them...until I explained that kids are whale magnets. It often seemed as if the mama was showing her baby what human little tykes looked like.

Nice video!

That's interesting Shari...maybe the same way humans are drawn to other baby animals?
