Another fire in San Ignacio palmera yesterday

http://colectivopericu.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/incendio-aye...

Oh my goodness...just read this. Looks like the fire took place in the same area as last year. I hope everyone is safe and dont suffer too many losses.

Some amigos were talking about risky areas to live/build etc like in arroyos and palm groves. While it is very beautiful along a peaceful river or under the palms...there certainly are risks involved that one must be aware of.

I have heard there have been a few small fires in the past few days, but nothing like last August. Evidently the new governor was in town during one of the fires, and rumor has it that it may have been deliberately set to draw attention to the lack of firefighting equipment in town. By the way, I was there during the August fire - stuck downwind on a dead-end road on our property. My family kayaked across the presa and I drove out through the burning palms - undoubtedly the scariest moment of my life. I have lots of photos and video if anyone cares to see how dramatic a palm fire can be.

Scary!

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

man...that would suck if it was done on purpose just to make a point that the village needs fire trucks....but they sure do need a better fire fighting system seeing as it's such a flamable area.

horrible ... scary .... and I agree that it would suck bigtime if it has been purposely set.

we had some north san diego county firemen stay with us and they can negotiate and get a firetruck, at auction, fix it so that it works for Baja purposes and train people to use it.

cost $3,000.00 dollars (guestimate)

If anyone is interested, get in touch with me and I will put you in touch with the guys.
