what does that mean? if steel shot doesn't work for you, and you need the soft lead to kill a bird, then i'm glad "they" forced you to stop pulling the trigger on everything that moves.:fire::fire::fire:

I think it because of the lead poisoning the environment.

Steel shot will ruin the barrel/choke on a shotgun. I quit shooting ducks because of it. And have you ever bitten down on a piece of steel shot?

Man I lost a molar that way a couple of years ago! With the Redneck genetics I have few teeth to spare!

Bless you folks that don't care for hunting. I understand, I'll only be a problem to you for another decade or two. Besides the way I shoot the game has a huge advantage and it really peees off Simon the Wonderdog when I miss...

Woodrow, you are smart as a box of rocks. Steel shot actually kills more birds. After being hit, they are much more likely to "sail" and not drop. They just sail further and then die without being retrieved. So the hunter goes on killing more to get his limit.

then? i think it's "than", but what do i know?

am i angry?

not too much. only when it's flat, kinda like your privates. i guess you'd rather use lead to kill and kill and kill after the first bird went down. if and when you find that bird (use dogs much?) i hope you choke on it. don't ask me why, it wouldn't register.

i know nothing about shooting live animals. i know about stretching fish lips.

i'm going places this weekend where you would wilt. i may have a good sized mid section, but hey, those things cost ALOT to install and maintain over the years. the one thing i noticed from day one rich, is you are hideously ugly rich, and i can diet......:barf: :barf:

Funny how a post about a condor chick born in the wild turned ugly...and I don't mean "ha ha" funny.

But it is interesting in that this very subject turned into a pretty heated argument amongst my friends and I around a campfire not long ago. Two mocking the attempts to save "stupid vultures" too dumb to save themselves and two of us thinking why not try to save the largest bird in the Americas?

I was lucky to see one that had gone astray a bit in the Inyo mountains near Cerro Gordo (out of Lone Pine, CA). It WAS indeed huge and you knew right away it was no hawk or turkey vulture. Beautiful. I would gladly have my tax dollars go for saving something like this as opposed to so much of the crap they are spent on.

And I say this as a non tree hugging gun owner who hangs out with my hunter friends who are indeed, dumb as rocks.

Oh...get over it...was a joke!

Yup Redhilltown, its quite a cesspool this board sometimes isn't it? I really wish Doug would give the permanent boot to rude idiots like Woody, it must really be off-putting to newbies on the board!

This nest is very close to our property line, and theres no hunters allowed here!! Too bad the non lead bullets are not yet used by hunters here (although its pricier I've heard). Is non lead ammunition not superior ballistically speaking?

Hi Mulegena!

Yes we have!! I can't disclose the location for obvious reasons but shortly I'm expecting a pair of giant binoculars (20X90's) for both astronomy and bird -watching so it shoulld be cool for watching the activity around the nest!! You should come for a visit some time!

Huge credit goes to Juan Vargas, Catalina Porras and Mohamed Saad!
Juan and Caty have been working in the field often under very extreme conditions for 9 years now. Thats why the Mexican government gave them the honor of being named wildlife conservationists of the year. We are very proud to be their friends!

That's the thing that gets me----Texas is overloaded with wild pigs (and apparently deer)----why don't the hunters go after them and do everybody a favor instead of hunting the Big Horns in Baja just so they can have another f--king trophy on their wall.

While the logic on saving the Condor is debatable ( remnant Pleistocene species on the way out which was given a temporary boost by the introduction of cattle into CA in the 1700s), we've invested so much this far I think we need to follow through---and they are magnificent to see flying in the wild!

:?::?::?: i thought steel killed more when hit? lead just kills the first bird when it spreads on contact. the shot(s) that miss are ingested by other birds.....you know, remember leaded gas? i'm just a wave rider. maybe your killing mentality is over my head-like the wave i hunt?

funny thing is, you'd never know me if you bumped into me (fat ass and all!) so you would be better served listening to the drone of your own mentality? richbaja is a tool who keeps posting links to things he'll never know anything about.

a wise man told me to listen to the opposition, otherwise you will just follow the herd...... nothing personal Astro. it looks like you have a really cool spread up there.

this is about your buddy rich who wants to antagonize.... i turned over a new leaf, remember? luckily, our paths won't cross. if it does, i'd love for ritchie to introduce himself on the "road to nowhere....."
