How NOT to drive in deep sand!!

Obviously, a lot of four wheelers on the East Coast don't know about deflating their tires!

Enjoy this fun look at Memorial Day 2011 beach full of big, bad, dumb and stuck 4x4s:

It's a great place for surf fishing, but I wouldn't want to go there on that weekend.

Before seeing the video I was ready to defend the dimwits, as the Sand in that area of the Outer Banks can really be surprisingly difficult. But it is far too obvious that they were all running too much PSI in their tires, and thoroughly enjoyed beating on their vehicles, over and over.

Glad you guys liked it! I first saw the video on TacomaWorld forums... even though it looks like 90% Fords in it... As you can see, it wasn't some special sand that was impossible to drive on. The huge numbers of 4WDs parked along the water as far as you can see attest to that.

The strap pulling scenes are a riot, then the idiot tries to steer away from the truck that is pulling him LOL!

I am glad to live somewhere that does not allow driving on the beach.

Park 1,000 cars on the beach... what a way to ruin a beach experience!

In the case of North Carolina I might agree, or issue a limited number of passes to 'smart people', instead of those dummies!... How about that black diesel smoke pouring into your sun shade along the water? :smug:

I love the outer banks, especially Ocracoke. But it's difficult to get there from mainland NC. I would bet 90% of those fools are idiots from Virginia.

The accent is dying out now, but it was always a pleasure to listen to native Bankers and O'c-ckers. We called them "Hoi Toiders". Centuries of isolation before the bridge and ferries left them speaking something like Elizabethan English. "Hoi toide on the sound soid, slick cam, full moon, no feesh."

David, great video. But at least it looked like everyone was having fun.

Here is a youtube clip that really depicts the airdown advantage that you talk about. Very good stuff here. An outstanding demonstration of not airing down and then airing down!!

Reminds me of days at Daytona and New Smyrna Beach in the 60s.

Nice info video Bob... I posted it over on TacomaWorld which has a lot of East Coast users.

I have a still photo taken last July of my tracks at 32 psi (digging in) and then continuing on at 15 psi (floating on top):

I pulled a full-size Dodge Ram last night out of deep sand along a 'Closed' road just last night. I *ALWAYS* carry along my Pro-Comp yank strap (3" width) wherever I go. The back of my Jeep has 2 attachment points that attach to the frame. Real necessary stuff, IMO.

It's the Colonel Bogey March. Made famous in the movie The Bridge on the River Kwai.
