Couple of questions, please
Hi all! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my questions, so forgive me if I'm in the wrong place. I'm new here!
I have a couple of questions that I'd like to ask. The first is, can anybody tell me "what" this is?
Also, does anybody have a picture of the Transpeninsular Monument around Los Cabos?

It is a monument for the "workers"(union) who built the highway.

Judy or anyone - is there some kind of plaque or dedication anywhere on this monument? I see some stairs, but the monument looks like it is in the
median between two sections of road. Is there a place to park where people can get out and look at it?

Judy would likely have superior knowledge on this, but I seem to recall that several years ago the monument was defaced and a plaque was removed.

What it really is, is a concrete logo for the Trans-Americas Clothespin Company which was a Maquiladora setting up in Mexico to take advantage of
cheap labor.
While footings for the huge building were being dug, the company went bankrupt and they took what could be moved and left town.
Perhaps someday they'll return.

These monuments are common on highways (usually toll roads) in the interior (Guadalajara-Celaya highway comes to mind).
The most important aspect of them is the word "Solidaridad" (solidarity, community, equal participation).

Actually when I put in the coordinates into google earth and took a peek myself, I do see indeed where there was a place to pull off and park at one
time. However, it looks pretty desolate now.

Yes it used to say that.
I have no idea how to get there but there is a ranchito under the bridge so maybe that would be a way without pulling onto the side of the highway
risking life and limb. I think(?) that it was put there when the first two lane was built not the 4 lane that was built for APEC.

Solidaridad; on the backs of the poor! The new Carretera on Hwy 19 will have one, no doubt. You can see them working daily under the hot sun for
rice & beans much like in ancient days! These people are happy for the work and proud of their place in taking a chance to improve themselves.
