DMSO Out Of Desperation

It's been three months since my "!#$%&$#" number four disc herniated in Mulege. It's better but I am still using a walker. I am wondering if the solvent DMSO would help to reduce inflammation of the site and along the leg sciatic nerve... I have used DMSO before for sprains and arthritis and it seemed to work OK.

I cannot seem to get a clear answer if DMSO is available (for vet purposes) in Baja. Maybe there is a one in a millionchance someone is traveling to Cabo in the next few weeks and they could get a quart of it for me. I of course would recompense them for it plus offer a nice dinner for two including booze.

Please U2U me if interested.

Jeeeezo....do they still make that stuff? I had forgotten all about the Horse Liniment that people used for arthritis. Back in the 70s, I used to buy it here for a friend in the states.
Good luck on your search.

Unreal....it's a solvent made from wood pulp. Don't know how that would work in the blood.

Dehydrated Yucca for Joint Pain

This very particular variety of yucca is regularly usedt for thoroughbred race horses and other valuable horses in the U.S. and Europe.

This five-generation Ensenada family still harvests from their original homestead (it only grows here and in some places in New Mexico).

The Mexican EPA ( whatever, if I am correct the agency is called PROFEPA) also licenses them to harvest from the wild.

This is all natural and they make a specific distillation for human consumption.

Husband takes the liquid drops with his breakfast and no longer has back pain.

All dogs get the powder (they were hesitant at first) with their breakfast.

Our elderly Rottweiler no longer cries when he tries to lie down or jump up on/off the bed.

Might I recommend you visit la bocana's doctor romero. he is not expensive and should certainly be able to help since his wife has tremendous back pain due to a fall form a horse years back ....

His number is 615 156-0059 but he is basically available any day any time and even does house calls ... you can certainly inquire whether he is going to mulege any time soon.

we also have a chiropractor in san diego who is a miracle worker - at least he was for me - dr charles salanger. great guy.

best of luck. back pain is horrid.

3 months ! I have chronic back pain and have some good meds to help when it's acting up. 3 months and a walker you really need to see a specialist! The pharmacist across from Candil's should be able to give you some anti inflammatory that may help but, again, 3 months is serious!

I really agree. I alreaqdy sent a U2U but i want to alert everyone that when Les hurt his back a couple years back and we pretty quickly went to the states to get it checked out when no apin meds were having an effect...

the specialist in the States said "if the pain is this serious ever again, hightail it to emergency because you can become paralized for life"

he expalined that the body shuts down in order to protect itself. self preservation.

get to an american/mexican specialist doc ASAP

Best of luck with your "back problem"... get something which allow ya to take the pain... at least until ya can move again...

Deal with it on a daily basis... try alternating ice and a heating pad... that will help me some times.. along with aspirin, plus my normal med for pain ... Vicodan ...

Ya got to get those muscle to relax.. ASAP... it won't correct the problem .. but, will make at least "tolerable"... like getting to the head...

Hang in there... again best of luck..

I cannot believe that a doctor in Mexico would be reluctant to prescribe pain medication. My experience has been just the opposite. You need to find a different doctor, or doctors.

" All dogs get the powder (they were hesitant at first) with their breakfast."

Hey Jan- Do you know if any of the graneros in Rosarito Beach carry the powder? Our 15 year old Lab is getting heavier and heavier every time I carry him up and down the stairs to do his business. Maybe this will give his legs a few more months so old Duke can make it a while longer and negotiate some stairs on his own. We've been doing low dose aspirin and Glucosamine with limited success. He's just old but still loves to carry his leash in his mouth- so still a Lab puppy on the inside.

Edit: Ok I'm confused. The website says these three Yucca products are for pets: BIOPETS, BIOPOWDER M and BIOSUPREME G and: "Research done by several investigators indicate that the use of Yucca schidigera in pet’s feed, especially cats and dogs, lower the concentration of ammonia and fecal odor by more than 50% besides improving the health and well being of the animal." Is that the product that help your dog's mobility?

Ditto's BIG TIME !! ... but, getting there for the shot... take something... that kind of pain is pretty bad... think many can relate...

Or how about adding on the passing some kidney stones, just for fun .. now that is some fun

Since were talking ... had a messed back from back surgery, (three and fourth lumber vertebrate disintegration , recommended course of action insertion of titanium brace for support, so I didn't become paralyzed.... which didn't work out)...... well, I slipped on our new Pergo floor and broke my left hip, ..... while recovering from the broken hip.. started peeing blood... kidney stones.. really a treat... plus I got infected so they couldn't operate ended up with only one kidney working.. the other was shunted via a tube/bag to my left side.. by soaking in a bag of ice they finally got my temperature down.. and were able to bust up the remaining stones..

Just thought I would give ya something ..... as it happen's to all of us.. or at least a few of us....:lol:

Again hang in there... there are a number of folks here with bad backs... and hope it helps... :):)
