Bigest pot bust in history.

Mexican Soldiers busted a marijuana grow south of San Quintin in a town known as El Marmol. This bust has the potential of generating 1 billion 860 million pesos. The total area was 120 hectares or almost 300 acres. Somebody is gonna be very peeed.

We've been saying this was going on around Ensenada for about six months now. 300 acres! Must have been hard to spot from the air, huh? geeesh. Maybe the "Re-image Rosarito" people should offer grow-farm tours.

That TJ bust a yr or so back, I believe it was
something like 120 tons. I always figured it
was grown on the Mainland, but being grown
120 mi so of TJ makes the transport a bit easier.
Can someone answer this ?, how does some product,
Marijuana, be considered an illegal substance
at the border, then a few mi up the road in
Ca., it is sold legally as a medicinal product?
I'm not an advocate of weed, just curious as
to the random application of the law, sarcasim
intended, I realize it is against US DEA Regs to
possess Marijuana

Translated story... (closer to San Agustin)

ENSENADA, BC. July 13, 2011 (AFN)-elements of the Mexican army discovered south of Ensenada what comes to be the largest planting of marijuana in the Republic, as reported in the same site, the Commander of the second military region, General Alfonso Duarte Mujica, who announced that 16 workers apparently working there have been under arrest at the moment.

The military commander spoke of it's 120 hectares which were simulated with plantations of tomato and is located two kilometres from the transpeninsular Highway, at the height of kilometer section 141 Guerrero Negro - San Quintin, in the vicinity of EL MARMOL.

On the site there are plants of more than one meter in height which had generated approximately 120 tons of marijuana or 70 million doses, with an estimated price on the black market - left circular-of at least $1,860 million pesos.
This planting was discovered after operating Earth review, past 12 this month, at night, so it immediately established military surveillance. He pointed out that at least 60 people working there, to realize the military presence, were given to escape.

However, at least 16 day laborers, originating in the State of Sinaloa and travelling the next day (13th), around 18: 00 hours and headed to Ensenada on a bus from the ABC Company, were arrested because they showed no identification documents.

Instead of finding there is a shelter although they were not found residents; marijuana plants will be destroyed after coerced to the appropriate legal procedures.

The area was found where the planting of drugs is located 80 kilometres south of San Quintín, in the municipality of Ensenada.

Makes you wonder how much money was invested in this "tomatoe" farm. Also who owns this and how are they getting the product north?? Not just to T.J. but over the border. Are there Gringo Customs Agents involved ?? How many people have died for this particular grow ?? So many questions...

If anyone actually believes that 120 Hectarias of weed being cultivated on a pencil-thin strip of land was unknown to the authirities, they should sober up. Yesca shines like tin foil because of the resin when the sun is at a certain angle. This plot could have been seen from space.

Wondered what crop was fenced off and guarded under all those miles of fabric covering the northern landscape.

Thanks. I didn't do that.....but will.
Anyway....the authorities had to know about it. They've been combing the countryside for years now. The only way that plot could exist is with their protection.

Read "Down By The River." It tells of massive plantations in Mexico that are guarded by military. Nothing new here.

Next weeks BIG SURPRISE bust will likely be the opium production in that region.

of course many people knew. the revenue stream from 300 acre plantationprobably supported hundreds of people in the know, and the owner/operator scared everyone else into silience.

look at el marmol area on google earth. only a few dozen people out there. you can see some big fields, but looks like crappy soil :lol:

Some tightwads do, but pot prices have dropped more than 50% in the last few years. Now the pot dispensaries are a lot more expensive. Sometime the killer bud is too strong so people like the less potent strains (like mexican).

I'm sure people in the heartland will smoke whatever they can get.

Yeah....and get ready for "Woodstock Redux." There's a couple million recycled Hippies that are trying to find out where they're going to burn 130....well, 70 anyway...hectarias of weed. The downwind seats will go for a premium.
