So do you want to be in pictures?
Fox Studios in Rosarito is looking for 300 Caucasion folks and Asians for a movie to be filmed there starting the end of August. Cast calls start
today and continue every day except Sundays for several weeks. The movie is called Little Man and the pay is $70.00/day.
This can do nothing but help the economy down here, so I say good news!

Work Permit and Taxes
It will be even more interesting when someone checks the papers on those "workers" in Baja to discover that they don't have work permits and no
registration with Hacienda.
Could be interesting.

Papers? Well that would be just dandy, wouldn't it? They are bringing jobs here; but it would be just like the gov. to once again shoot themselves in
the foot. I understand they go from here to Cabo to finish up the movie. Get your papers ready, SOB

on a somewhat related topic, I sometimes go up to Burbank to see my favorite sitcoms being filmed. It takes three hours- but they usually give you
pizza and water. They also have movie extra positions from time to time:

I went by Fox studios yesterday. Lot's of Mexicans lined up at the gate, but the casting call is for whites and Asians to recreate an early 1940's
city scene. You have to park your car on the street though- they don't allow private cars on the lot. I said "no thanks" to that and went back home.
Two cars were broken into at Popotla a little while later- so I'm glad I took off:

"Car Thieves in Popotla"
ROSARITO, Baja California (PH)
With just 10 minutes apart, two cars parked in the same place in Popotla were attacked by robbers who took money and resources of their owners. The
first of these events occurred around 14:05 hours When Maria de Jesus Warner parked outside a business where purchases take place, but upon returning
to his car 2000 model Toyota Tundra, he realized the lack of a black colored bag that had two visas, one license, social security, telephone phone and
two credit cards. The injured said they were likely responsible for the robbery were transported in a van Aerostar black, so immediately, Municipal
Police officers were given the task of locating the same, although the end without positive results. But that did not end the problem, as only 10
minutes later, approached the uniformed Mauricio Calderon, who reported that under similar conditions had reached a business area and therefore had
left his truck parked Sierra model 2007 with California plates. In similar conditions to the case before returning to his car, he realized that had
been opened by thieves, who among other belongings they took with them three walks, and although we searched the area without positive results."

Did this occur in the fishing village or on the main blvd? Can't imagine why anyone would leave all that id's, cc's, etc. in their car.And a 2000
tundra is not exactly a car they would be interested in stealing.
We went down to the village last wknd. after the casting call in a Mercedes SUV (new) and no problema.

Film set in World War II being shot in Baja California
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2011/aug/01/film-set-worl...
Written by Sandra Dibble
Aug. 1, 2011
A movie set in northern California during World War II is being shot in Baja California, bringing a $14 million investment that state officials said
Monday will breathe new life into the region's film industry.
Called “Little Boy,” it tells the story of an 8-year-old who dreams about rescuing his father from the war. The scenery moves from a Norman
Rockwell-esque town to a prisoner-of-war camp in the Philippines to the devastation of Hiroshima following the atomic bomb.
Eduardo Verastegui, a Mexican actor, is co-producing the film through Los Angeles-based Metanoia Films. The director is Alejandro Monteverde, who is
co-author of the script with Pepe Portillo. Actors include Ben Chaplin and Emily Watson.
Most of the action will be shot at Baja Film Studios south of downtown Rosarito Beach, the same location where James Cameron’s 1997 film “Titanic” was
filmed.
On Monday, Baja California’s governor, Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan joined other authorities in touring a set built do look like a town on a bluff that
overlooks the ocean.Other locations around the state also will be used as backdrops, including the Guadalupe Valley, the Laguna Salada and the Casa de
Cultura in Tijuana.
State authorities announced that the production will generate more than 1,000 jobs, and said that over than 90 percent of the staff will be local
hires. Juan Tintos, Baja California’s tourism secretary, said members of Rosarito’s large ex-pat community will be enlisted as extras.
“It’s a good investment, it’s good for the location,” Tintos said.
Filming began in June and is expected to continue through November. The movie is scheduled for release in 2012
