My wife picked it up from Diana T on a social network page.

we just got back from burying Isaias, a nephew of our family who drowned the day before yesterday....hours after the funeral for his uncle...the 16
year old who just graduated, was boogie boarding at the big pino in the village when it is thought that he suffered an epileptic seizure and drown
before anyone noticed....a very very sad day here in Asuncion.

Some lifeguards from Imperial Beach have had a training program in Abreojos for a few years. We talked with them a couple of years ago and then
hooked them up with Jamie Morales V. Jamie took a group from BA to Abreojos mainly to see what was happening and for a day of training.
At that time, it was arranged for the lifeguards to come to Bahia Asuncion, but that did not happen. Unfortunately, it did not happen for a number of
reasons and we and Jamie quit hearing from them.
But Jamie is now calling together the surf club and others to train with what they know, and he is very familiar with the ocean and a lot of safety.
Also, we are all checking on if the program is still going in Abreojos. They were also very involved with Chelo and the woman's club in Abreojos
with environmental projects. Jamie is a friend of Chelo's and another ex-pat from Abreojos will also check on what is happening. He is also
contacting the head of the lifeguard program directly once again
We so hope that a program can be put back together as it could help avoid more of these tragedies. We are in Montana at the moment, but will check in
IB when we get back.
It is such a sad time for so many.
On edit---time to change my security settings.

Wow! It gets scary. Sometimes life seems like a bad game of Russian roulette. So sad.
We all want a peaceful world, filled with love and laughter, but we fill ourselves with anger and hate trying to fiqure out how to achive it.

Diana those Lifeguards are all Very good friends.. I'm working on getting Art, Adam and Matt to come down here.
Also to leave a Manaquien (sp?) so I can give refesher course after they leave!
This hurt as I was fishing just 300 yards from them less then an hour before I heard the sirens... 1 halibut bite would have had me
stay............... serious case of what might have been right now!

That is good. We were working with Aaron and Mike and Aaron has been involved in many areas of Baja. Our friend who lives part time in Abreojos
said that Chelo is going to check on training schedules.
I suggest that you might want to talk with Jamie Morales as he is organizing the local meeting to discuss safety and he is familiar with the training
program in Abreojos as he took a group there. He is also trying to reconnect with Aaron. I have not contacted Jamie today because of the funeral.
ON edit BTW, the program they do in Abreojos is not just life saving methods, it is a week of real lifeguard training---not easy.

Thank you! Sometimes things don't always read the way we intend them to read---how well I know that. And maybe I was a bit over-sensitive.

Right now, it is looking very positive that the lifeguard training program may be able to come to Asuncion in the fall. :-)
