PLEASE IDENTIFY THIS
Can anyone tell us what this creature is?
He/she/it was pretty aggressive (or at least unimpressed) when captured, and my ranch manager tells me that it is instant death to be bitten by one
(although this threat is pretty routine).
Last seen heading off into a mangle bush . . .

The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

Come on.....cannot believe you have never seen a potato bug. Gather about 30 more, have Linda roast them in olive oil and mix with salad.
Yummy!!

Potato Bug!
Harmless. Will not attack. These used to be a very common insect till the 60's. We have a few out here on the farm...but not the thousands like it
used to be.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Tehag is correct. Count the legs. This is an arachnid, not an insect (potato bug). Ugly, can be quite fast, but harmless. Google solpugid.
