This pair of coyotes was patrolling the shoreline on the estero side of Isla Magdalena this afternoon.

Once in Baja some local guides told me that the coyotes can catch crabs with their tales? They would dip their tales in the water and let the crabs grab them then flick them on the beach. Folklore or ?

I heard that too. Just might be true.

Hey...just great shots of the critters. Txs

Hard to get just ONE photo and you got many and close ups, too. I have such respect for these animals and their survival instincts. Thanks for posting.

There were two in front of my house yesterday AM, walking up the road toward La Bufadora just like a couple of tourists.
I've had one in my yard in the past. I really have to be careful since my dog thinks these are just other dogs to play with.

great photos ...

our dog rex's hair (he is an English Springer Spaniel) literally goes up on end when he sees coyotes ... and he spots them in the sand on the dunes, where they totally blend in, waaaaay before we notice them. He runs and barks but keeps his distance. For a imported Brit, amazing how he knows that coyotes are to be respected

Nice to see healthy looking ones. Interesting difference in the coats between the two. Pic #7 has a little pooch, like maybe embarazada.

ola.....No, that one was a male for sure. Check the photo in #4. It appeared that the female was just starting to shed, and the male had completed the process
