tortuga - isla de cedros

i did this trip solo with boat in tow. i already had my boat in el socorro, so that save some time.

my trip started looking for tuna (31 july) in san quintin with captain jaime. we couldn't find the right temperture, but did hit the 240 for some fat rojos on the way in.

tuesday ( 2 aug.). left for guerrero nergo, and made it there in 6 hours...maybe a bit more. i stayed at the cowboy hotel the night, before making the trip to tortuga. this is when tony's adventure really started. i had a few mishaps, but it added to my baja experience. by the way, this was a first time to tortuga for me, and also cedros.

it was about 107 mas o menos to tortuga from vizcaino. OMG...took my time, but still a skecthy ride.

some pics, and a quick video:

video:

i arrived in tortuga, and decided to stay a night at nanci's, before making the run to isla de cedros. i drank some beer with the locals, and they told me about the grouper fish (bsb)...beer is way cool. the next morning, i hired a local to launch my boat...screw using my truck. thank you to russ, and wife for allowing me to leave my truck by his tackel store. thank you shari for hooking me up.

the run to cedros went very smooth...better then the road. lol. i'll let the pics of my stay at isla do the talking. some pics of the fishing, and also of isla.

the last pic was taken at tortuga after i got the boat back on the trailer. i stopped by the mother-in-law of russ to give here thes fillets, but no one was home...i hope i didn't knock on the worong door. anyways, i'll make it up to them when i return next week. my boat stayed at nananci's for my return.

some pics of la isla.

downtown cedros...way cool:

great trip...the best baja experience.

some pics., and short video.

I would probably never have seen the community on Cedros. Thanks. Looks like a a functioning Municipality--schools, gov't bldgs, Internet!!Population? Summer Yellowtail are in--beauties! Yummmm. Next time the trip should be easier but the road in will not change much. Stay Safe, play safe. Tio

orale...i wasn't prepared for that heat. i just got done taking the front bolt off. i'm a freaken light weight. jajaja.

bolt fail...broke. cost me $50. pesos to fix in tortuga. i just bought a pair of trailer lights at walmart, plan on having them install it for me when i return. i lost the back driver's side....may as well replace both.

I had always heard there was a MASSIVE garbage dumb on Cedros and that it stunk to high heaven. Did you see such a thing?

Oh cool. Well, next time you go, spend all your time hunting down a garbage dump so you can answer my questions.

Just kidding! Nice fish.
