Awesome family fishing today in Asuncion

this morning Juan took us all out fishing and it was the perfect trip...

as soon as we got underway, Juan said we should get the rods ready in case we saw some birds....no sooner had our deckhand Surfdoc got the lures tied on, we saw a bunch of birds just off our house at the point so we dropped the lines in and BANG...immediate hookup....a big bonita...great start...then BANG...another hit and Sirena reeled in a nice yellowtail after a tug of war with a sealion...note the big bite out of the belly!

We caught some more bonita and then headed out to SAn Roque Island where BANG, Ariadne hooked another nice yellowtail around 23 pounds.

We kept Stan pretty busy with 6 yellowtail, some bonita and he caught this big barracuda too...then we had a triple hookup of big calico!!!

Izaak paid strict attention to it all

It was my first fishing adventure this season and man, there are fish all over the place...looking real good for this season.

Then we got back in time for the cabalgata arrival into town...stay tuned for photos of this wonderful event...OK gotta go nap for the big dance tonight...the last night we dance till sunrise!!!

Those damn dogs (or lions, or lobos) always go for the guts!!
Stan still never ceases to amaze!
Ask him about the 7 day`er he got Shanghaied on. Went down to the dock to see his buddies off on the Q-105. While Stan was getting drunk, the cook`s helper quit. When Stan woke up, the boat was outside the point, and Stan was the new helper!!! AMAZING BUT TRUE!!!!!

I'd like to catch one of those big log barracuda just to say I did it. They must a lot more fun than their cortez cousins.

BTW, shari, that kid's great. I love that age.

Rob

Anyone can catch fish in a boat but only \"El Pescador Grande\" can get them from the beach.

I hope when my time comes the old man will let me bring my rod and the water will be warm and clear.

that was Stan's reel and Izaak was fascinated by it...especially when it went....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...Juan's yellowtail spooled him right away....pretty exciting stuff.

Today Comitan and Boe4fun took the little tin boat out and caught a bunch of bonita and a yellowtail....happy gentlemen!

the Fiestas have drawn to a close and town is real quiet today...as Juan says...everyone is hungover, tired and out of money!!! They were really fun and it was awesome having Sirena, Isaak and their pals Ariadne & her daughter Ainara here for all the fun.

Always great to get kids into fish.

The firetiger rap pictured above CRUSHED the jurel and cabrilla off Punta Concepcion this spring. I headed south with a dozen, six weeks later I returned con nada. No complaints from this pescadero.
