Cell service in BoLA

Just got back from a 10 day trip to my house in Bola, and the talk in town is that in the not too distant future BoLA will have cellular service. There is a cell tower now in town that has just been put in near the new elec sub station.
We'll see.

Good News? I guess it is progress.

Yah, seriously...

Great for folks that live there... which is important. I miss seeing the town going dark at 10 or 11 pm when the generator shut down.. and the zillion stars appeared above. What has it been, 5 years of 24 hour electricty now?

Progress marches on, a bittersweet development. I kind of enjoyed telling people there was no way to reach me when I headed south, even though it was never completely true.

Bob
I thought you of all people would be happy to hear about the service since you are always looking for a way for your wife to come down and have a phone to use.
I guess it can be a double edged sword, some people will find out they have to go north before they want to and others will find that they can do what they need to do over the phone and stay longer.

Cell service is great and so are those turn by turn directions we used in the 1960's to see Baja, long before pavement!

I think this is great...it helps with the "safety factor" for the area.

Just a memory soon. Those phone booths at the store. How hot and stuffy and with poor connections.

There are already internet options, same places as the stuffy phone booths. When I'm in a Baja frame of mind I don't think I need to check the internet every day, I'll connect every few days at the store when I need a new case of pacificos.
