ANDREW ZIMMERN & BAJA (SET YOUR DVR'S)

I just found out that this gentleman's show will air an encore presentation on September 12 at 11 a.m. Pacific Time on the Travel Channel (277 on DIRECTV).
This airing is a replay of his trip a couple of years ago to some of Baja's best restaurants and includes the dish of HUITLACOCHES:O: of which there was a recent posting on this forum.
His stops includes TJ, Ensenada, Cabo and La Paz.

Hey Aztec;

Is he (Andrew) the fat guy or the skinny guy?
Hope all is well with you!

Cool!

I will be looking for the showing.

Martyman - Andrew Zimmern is the fat guy. Who eats everything except Spam.

Not a fan of the show, focusing more on the weird and gross, and not on quality.

He doesn't like eating Durians either... considered one of the world's finest fruits, in taste (because it smells like a cross between kerosene and raw sewage)! Avoid a talkactive taxi driver in Thailand or Malaysia during durian season!

Same here.
Watched a few of his shows on DVD as we do not have tele. We like weird food, but eating male animal genitalia or any other not so common in the USA food is only weird food the first or second time and it seemed to be a theme on his show. Like, oh my gosh my munching on this bull d-ck and pig b-lls in yet another country will once again gross them out for sure!!

Udo, Can us Old School, Old Guys set our VCR recorders
instead? I believe I've seen that episode. I agree with a couple other posters. I would much rather watch Anthony Bourdain,
a bit more wit

We've seen that episode. In one scene he is eating a large sea food c-cktail that he got from a cart right off the malecon region in Ensenada that he said one could pick up for "just a couple a pesos". Such a deal. We still can't find that cart.

I also got a kick out of his pronunciation of the lower half of the peninsula. Baja "Sewer". (sur)

I like both shows, but Andrew's is far more entertaining BECAUSE he eats things most of us wouldn't (and lives to tell about it)!

What is fun about watching someone eat 'normal' food?

Live worms out of a rotting tree trunk, warm goat's blood with eye balls, squid ink soup... Bring it on Andrew!

I hope this year's tequila expo will again have some "different" foods as they did last year.

Food Channel? Here in OC Zimmer, Bourdain are on
the Travel Channel, may be different other places?
Bourdain no doubt is arrogant, sharp, sarcastic,
full of innuendos, not for everyone

Partially correct. Bourdain serially trashes many celebrity chefs, including those on the Food Channel.

However, both his show and that of Zimmern are indeed on the Travel Channel.

And, as has previously noted, when it comes to Bourdain and Zimmern, it's no contest. The fat guy is in business to provoke disgust at what he eats. The skinny guy ( and just wondering how many chefs ahve you seen who are not fat?) actually searches for really good food.

BTW. I Do Not Like Paula Dean's Recipes

When I tried them out - too much grease and did not taste good.

Just my opinion.
