Not a surfer, but, OMG, big waves.

southwest swell that originated off the coast of New Zealand,

20 foot waves in Newport Beach, flowing over the "The Wedge." The high tide is also flooding out parts of Newport Peninsula

It is fantastic! Feel like I'm on the north shore of Oahu-and to hear that while you are sleeping is music to my ears!

Balboa was like a second home for me...I have never seen waves top the The Wedge ever. It must be a awesome sight.

I was at Camp Pendleton RV beach this morning, and the surf HAD to be over 12' high.
The local lifeguards did not let any of the Marine surfers go out and closed the beach altogether.

In North San Diego county, most spots are closing out.

Waves were hitting the bottom of Oceanside pier and really shaking the pier.

Only 2 guys were out surfing the closeout bombs at the pier

Im waiting for this one to settle down a little before I paddle out.

No worries

Waves do look 11-15' in centro Rosarito. A few "jet ski assisted surfers" out this morning. Nice sandy bottom here to eat. Good clams too. Big waves but water level low- barely to the seawall.

BTW: The beaches nearby in San Diego have been closed on and off the past week from an (alleged) Great White sighting.

Oceanside is 10'. I was the only guy out at the harbor. Nothing rideable though - just punishment.

Well the south facing locations are getting bombed! K-38, long lulls, followed by 30 wave sets, some waves looking like waterfalls. Strong north winds screwed things up a bit, but Califia was calm and had tow-in crews out there. Wish I was out there paddling over those cliffs, errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, OK just wish I had pulled off the road and watched! What a show!
