OTAY "ready lane" questions.
1. Can you bring an RV through the ready lane?
2. Do you have to sign up for it or just whip out my SENTRI ?
3. What are the hours?
4. Where is it? (ie. all the way to the left?)

Sentri and Ready Lane
RVs at Otay, I think so.
Dogs with up to date vet health certificates and rabies certification, yes.
Sentri pass good in the Ready lane, I don't know.

We don't go through Otay, but in Calexico East and San Luis SENTRI we take our dog through all of the time, with no troubles and no questions, we we
only have a vaccine record.

your sentri card has the chip required to get you through the ready lanes. here is a link for ready lane doc requirements, maybe there is a link to
send a question. i recently sent a question asking if i could tow through the ready lane. i received a prompt reply.

My son and I have the new passports w/rfid chips,are they acceptable ID for the ready lane at Otay? How do you get to the ready lane?

We Take Cuauhtémoc Blvd. Past the Airport
There is a big Pemex gas station there, with a clean bathroom.
After that, we turn around onto Ave. Bellas Artes. Sometimes a two hour wait;,sometimes a ten minute wait for the Ready Lane; it is always
unpredictable.
Other travelers say that taking Blvd. 2000 to Blvd. Industrial is a straight shot to the line.

If you have a Sentri card wouldn't you go through the Sentri lane and not the ready lane?
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

When I drive my car to MX I use the SENTRI. The question was regarding my RV (30 ft motorhome) . They do NOT allow RVs in the SENTRI line.
SO... back to question number one, can you bring an RV thru the ready lane?

i asked the question originally because i know you can't tow anything in sentri. i am now a bit confused by CBP's answer.
can you have a towed vehicle and use sentri?

Ready Lane is open from 7AM - 10PM seven days a week. Ready Lane is on the right side as you approach the port, next to the SENTRI lane. Go to www.GetYouHome.gov for more information.

We tried to get in Ready pass lane via Industrial last Tue @ 0900 but traffic feeding off Bellas Artes was backed up for blocks and solid turning
onto the Industrial route. NOBODY would let us in and the MX police were stopping all legit card holders from cutting in and refusing to let those
without cards get out of the Ready Lane also.

My understanding is no, passport Books even with the
RFID chip are not accepted in the Ready Lane, some printed info
seems to contradict that though

Went through OTAY with my 4runner last Sunday (9.18). Missed the entrance to the ready lane so I waited for 30 mins to cross. The CBP told me that RVs
can cross through the ready lane HOWEVER they would immediately be sent to secondary necessitating me to cross against 6 lanes of outbound traffic to
get to secondary. SHEEZE.
So now Im considering taking it through SY crossing. Any Idea how long the regular line is at SY about 2am on a SUNDAY morning???

daleG: do you mean 2am sunday? 2am, 4 hours before sunrise? i think you would have your choice of lanes, pretty empty at that time.
if anyone uses the ready lanes in the next day or two, would you ask the agent about using the ready lanes while towing a small boat. just for a
confirmation to the info i've already received. thanks.

yes, maybe 3 to 5 am sunday morning. My experience is that not many cops are out cruising at that time. The ones that are have bigger fish to fry
than trying to jack up a gringo RVer for a mordita. Ill post my results.
