Cabo to Todos Santos Yesterday

We went on a day trip to Todos Santos from Cabo yesterday. There was a ton of construction from just outside Cabo proper to about ten miles south of TS. The construction road is in good shape but its slow going. Just putting it out there for others.

Thanks... and for newbies, this construction you are talking about is the widening of the highway from 2 lanes to 4, correct?

Siii! Rough area thru some mtns but along the coast. Bridges and culverts. It will be very nice and new when finished! It will be much easier for the day trippers--damn. Good roads... Oohh I didn't want to say that?! ha, ha. Tio

Yes, this is all for the "improvement" of day trips between CSL & TS. When done it will all be a four lane highway.

When this is done, will 19 be mostly 4 lane from Cabo to LaPaz?

Yes. It is already 4 lanes LP to TS. I will be glad to see this next section completed. The trip between CSL and TS has always been a pain with slow trucks and crazy speedsters passing from seven cars back. I always felt like I was cheating death making that passage.

No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

If going from Cabo to La Paz, would it be better to go via the east cape rather then thru TS? Im at CSL not SJD.....

I drove from CSL to LaP and back last Saturday. It wasn't that bad. It depends on your tolerance of road construction and slow traffic. Even with the construction, it is still faster than going along the East Cape. However, Hwy 1 (East Cape) is pretty and green right now with all the rain in that area in the mountains.

Was there much rain from Hillary? How did it affect the roads?

There was some rain up in the mountains. No, the roads weren't affected.

Gerald,
From CSL it is much quicker to La Paz via Todos Santos. From San Jose it would be a toss up right now with the delays.
Yesterday we had a crazy rain storm on some of those dirt detours, but they have so much heavy equipment working right now that any floods are quickly repaired.

I heard it did not rain in la paz at all and that they desperately need the rain ...
