Racism on this board

On and off, through the years I have participated in OT on-and-off. Mostly off. I understand the conditions under which Doug established that area - I was there when it happened.

But do those rules really mean that anyone can say ANYTHING? At the point it is now, it seems there is nothing going on aside from personal insults. Ah, yes - there is another thing, and that is BLATANT racism. we have JoeJustJoe continually referring to people in clear, unmistakeable racist terms. Drawing an equivalence between an insult and saying a person is Jewish. The kind of terms that brought on the Holocaust.

Is this what is desired? Are the managers of this website REALlY just going to stand by and let this continue? Complicity?

And Joe is not the only one. Skeet has recently, continuously referred to "Negroes", and other ethnicities and attempted to attribute behavior to race. Now, if that is not the definition of racism, I must have missed a LOT during the last 30 years.

So, continue to let it be a free-for-all. Those that choose to participate deserve what they get. But, let's also draw some limit somewhere.

Wouldn't this belong in the Baja 1000 thread? That's where the racists are.

Somewhat cute Pompano. But, from my perspective, having lived over six centuries, and been involved in activist causes, including the Selma/ Montgomery thing, I have come, late in life, to the realization that mankind is fundamentally racist. Tribalism has driven actions throughout history.

And I actually think that people who claim that they are not racists are in some way in denial. It's a big stretch to go from lynchings in the South to what seems to be an organized effort to derail the current president from having a second term. But, underlying it all is what I would consider an undeniable ingrained racist/ tribalist motivation that most folks just do not understand.

I just think that is what the HUMAN race is about. There is some form of visceral reaction that people feel and think.

Perhaps our culture might benefit from some form of therapy/ activism wherein folks are able to channel their gut feelings for the better of everyone.

Derail the current president from having a second term? Is racist? Maybe you need to revisit Selma/Montogomery. Touch base with your roots. Some folks are just as dense at 60 as they were at 16.

Man, give it a rest! If someone chooses to be racist, then so be it. Talk about Baja, mental midgets. I am an American patriot of Mexican ancestry who happens to belong to the Republican party. In my neck of the woods that makes me a racist. Give me a f****** break.

There is a problem. And just because many don't see it, it doesn't mean its not there. Over the years i see frequent comments by some posters that have clear racist overtones, and then you see these same posters show their real selves in the OT side. The embarrasing thing is that this is a Baja board, and baja is full of Mexicans, in Mexico, so it is a serious subject.

Well, I haven't lived six centuries, but in the years I have lived I've never seen an incumbent president seeking another term without there being an organized effort to derail his plans for a second term. (Just look at the recent past incumbents)

Certainly racism exists, but please don't try to make it the explanation for everything.
