CAMPO RENE, BCS - PHOTOS

Campo Rene is halfway between highway 1 and Punta Abreojos ... it is a haven for birds with its marshes and lagoons ...there is a restaurant - simple cabanas - and space for Rvs. The Punta Abreojos coop just bought it and the scuttlebutt is that they are going to fix it up a bit.

We went there 2 days ago and these are the photos:

THESE PHOTOS ARE FROM INSIDE THE RESTAURANT:

THIS IS A DEPICTION OF WHAT THE SAN IGNACIO MISSION WAS TO LOOK LIKE .... really interesting how the final product was different ....

AND THESE ARE THE POSTED PRICES ....

Interesting - is the Abreojos coop going to fish out of there too? Hopefully it will remain open for travelers to fly in (is the airstrip still functioning?) or drive in to camp, fish, and enjoy. Great fishing and birding there, fer sure!

I understand that the coop bought it with the intention of keeping it as it is and primarily protecting their oyster farming ... everyone in these communities love going there so I sure hope that this is the case.

the airstrip is fine and used quite often.

We had heard the co-op bought it and we wish them well in keeping it up and consistent---it is such a special place.

Just a few of our pix from our visits there.

We hope to be there again real soon, and thanks for the update!

Love those cabanas! Outdoor showers or ?

I don't know about the gill netting ....

There is a big bathroom with showers - actually - I believe my friend who stays there said there are 2 bathrooms which are shared. Since there are rarely more than a couple motorhomes at a time .. and some people who only come for the day to BBQ - it is not a problem....

bird watchers should go - the birds are incredible !!
