Copper Sulfate
Anyone know of the availability of copper sulfate in B.C.S.?
I have a severe root problem in my sewer lines and someone recommended using this to prevent root growth.
Also, would appreciate any comments from folks who are familiar with its use.

poison may kill roots, but you need to roto-rooter pipes to remove blockage -- even dead roots impeded flow.
in long run, roots will return if pipe has gaps, leaks water. another set of roots will find that water source.
only long term solution is to replace pipe with plastic pipe, watertight glued joints.

Don't know about the Copper Sulfate, but had the same problem here in Redding, CA 8 years ago. Like the Goat says, roto-root the offending roots,
but then kill the source of those roots (in my case a young Valley Oak) if you can ID it, and that should solve the problem. In my case, I have had
no further problems in 8 years, and I had nothing done to the pipes (old clay sewer pipes) other than the one roto-rooter treatment.

Copper Sulfate works on the roots..and will kill back to the source.. Still may need to clean pipe out.. Farm supply stores will carry the product up
in CA.. Loreto may be a stretch to find...There are farm supply places in Constituion that may carry the product.

The pipes are rooted out and clear.
The copper sulfate is supposedly keeping future root growth at bay. Googling it, claims flushing toilets once in a while with the stuff, keeps lines
clear.
However, my confidence in google results is shaky at best.

Why not try RootX instead? Just google it on eBay where you can buy it and have it shipped anywhere in US.
RootX is not a copper sulfate product.
RootX is a foaming 2 component product that are mixed before applying. It kills roots on contact; the dead roots decay over time and are carried out
with the flow of the pipe, restoring the pipe to its full capacity. RootX also leaves a barrier on the pipe walls to prevent future root growth. Once
you've put your pipelines on a maintenance program with annual RootX treatments, you should be able to eliminate mechanical root cutting in most
cases.

Copper sulfate was made illegal in the SF Bay area about 15 years ago. Discharge of excess copper to the environment is bad for invertebrates.
Physical removal of roots is best. Grease combines with roots to cause most sewer blockages.
