Import duty percentage

Hi:
I want to import a new fridge into Mexico but if the duty is too high I might just go to Mexicali to try to buy one. But the number I need to decide is the percentage of the purchase price and other stuff like tax that the Mexicans will charge to import the fridge.

Can you give me some straight scoop?

Bucko,

I flew into Loreto on the 18th with a new DSC Security system which cost $665.00 US and they wanted to see my "original" receipt.

The nice young lady running Aduana at the Loreto Airport charged me a duty on $365.00 of 16%. It worked out to 774 pesos.

You are allowed to bring in $300.00 worth of goods tax free at the present time.

You will undoubtedly be moving your fridge by truck, but I believe the duty will be the same.

Yes, it is around 15% depending who you see at the border. Nancy
