walking across san ysidro border
this friday i'll be picking up my daughter who will leave a car and walk in. where will be the easiest place to pick her up? Im notorious for getting
lost at the border and with the road construction its a recipe for disaster! thanks guys

Walked across at TJ a couple weeks back, no construction
in the pedestrian area/line. Sat afternoon was 1.20 hrs
in the ped line. It sounds like you are walking thru to
TJ , then you both stand in the ped line coming back?
I would select a place to meet just across the border
in TJ. Is she coming from the TJ Airport, TJ Bus station
or other? Off hand I can't think of a LANDMARK in TJ
close to the border, maybe Pueblo Amigo/Caliente?
If coming from the airport, I would go to the Otay Mesa
crossing. I should read a little closer, didn't realize you
were coming UP to the border
I don't feel so inept now, I'm not the only 1 that
misreads a post

thanks sancho, i'll be coming from rosarito to pick her up after she walks in. someone mentioned a macdonalds in tijuana would be a good spot??? If
the walk back across is an hour and a half i'll just drive her back across then return to mex. this will be sunday morning so im expecting the worse.

hola,
i walked across at tijuana about three weeks ago.
got off at the last exit before mexico, at the light at the end of the 5 offramp, i made a right and immediately made another right into a parking
lot. paid $ 7.00.
walked about a mile to the pedestrian crossing ( the parking attendant will direct her ) and after about 50 feet after going through the turnstile, go
to the right about a block and a half to the mcdonalds.
crossing north on foot, the taxi dropped me off at the end of the line and it took me about an hour and a half in a long line in front of the
storefronts to get to and through customs. then out of the building and to the left to the long pedestrian bridge and back to my car.
just for informations sake, if a person has a sentri or the handicap form, they can go to the front of the line. sentri has it's own line.

Those were poor instructions. Go straight at the bottom of the last offramp in US. Then turn right into the parking lot and park. Walk through two
sets of turnstiles and then turn right. She will see a big farmacia on the corner ahead of her. Walk to the corner and turn left to the end of the
block for the McDonalds. Total walking distance from the parking lot is less than 1,500 feet.

For future reference, and if you want to make it easier on yourself, find the ABC bus terminal near the pedestrian entrance to Mexico and have your
guest ride the Ensenada Express to the first toll gate and pick him/her up there.
It's only a bit confusing the first time.

Go to TJ on the Free Road to the Cuahutemoc Roundabout (That is the standing statue of the Indian)
There is a very large, high rise and pink building, the Fiesta Plaza Hotel.
Take a three-quarter turn around and head north to San Diego.
The next roundabout is where the large and well-signed McDonald's is located, on the northwest corner.

Here's an idea. Have her take a taxi to Revolution Ave. to the bus station there (tell her to pay the taxi driver $5.00 and negotiate this price
first). Then she can take a Mexicoach bus to Rosarito which drops people off at the Rosarito Beach hotel. I think a bus leaves for Rosarito every 45
min. or so. It costs about $4.00.
She could also walk over to the San Ysidro US shopping center where Mexicoach sells tickets, loads up, crosses the border and goes to Rosarito.
