Fiesta of San Javier

This December 1-3 are the Village Fiesta Days being celebrated at San Javier, up in the mountains outside of Loreto. So if you're in the area looking for something to do, this is a once-a-year chance to see how they do things in San Javier. It's well worth the trip, but either get an early start and plan on making it a one-day affair or take camping gear, the accommodations in town are sure to be full.

There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

The Calbalgata is a religious observance which quickly turns into an all out borrachera when night falls.
Definitely not for the curious tourist.......

Hundreds of cowboys ride up to San Javier to celebrate the Saint's Feast Day.
There are no reliable accomodations, no portapotties, and one restaurant.

Once the tequila breaks out, the party turns psychedelic.

Just sayin'. :saint:
