Body dumped near Punta Banda

While we were out of town Thanksgiving a body was dumped almost on our doorstep I inqured of the Punta Banda Buliten Board about the Incident and was
told they would not post about it. I guess their policy has changer to posting only the Good Stuff Looks like the Public would have a right to hear
all the news good or bad.

For not having any money when he was assaulted, three subjects beat a resident of Maneadero until he was dead. But that was not enough, so they tossed
his limp body into a ravine on the road to La Bufadora. The body was found hours later and the three were immediately arrested and they confessed.

This was all discovered when one of the brothers of the deceased saw a tow truck pulling the pick up of his brother, and since he was missing since
Monday, he reported this to the police, who stopped the tow truck. In the tow truck were a Gabriel N, 15-years old, Erasmo and Kevin Reyes Sepulveda,
28 and 18 years old. Upon being interviewed separately, they confessed to having killed Diego Mata Moreno in order to steal money from him.

It was an innocent person. He told his "friends"he had 10,000 pesos, so they killed him for it.

Within the GrinGo community is it all about property values and keeping of the baja 30 years ago alive?

Seems nothing is too far from sacrifice

What a shame to hide the truth and foster the illusion at an extreme cost to the naive.

Talking about you? I must have missed that part. Why would anyone want to talk about you when there's brutal crime and death to discuss?
I knew about the story before the paper brought it out by talking with one of the firemen who was on the scene. So...you and Google Translate were
getting predigested news. That's a poor recommendation for one who consideres herself the pillar of local news dissemination.

Easy. We didn't have all the facts. The story appeared in el Mexicano and el Vigia the next day. If you want to keep absolutely current on every crime
in this area, link to them. Your browser probably has a translator in case you can't read Spanish.

Where information isn't generally available, such as the numerous break-ins and personal assaults that are currently plaguing Punta Banda, all posts
are published. Go to "messages" on the BB, type in a topic, and hit search. It's all there, just requires a little effort.

We may disagree about the what gets posted on the BB, but we don't have the time, bandwidth or inclination to try and please nearly 1000 members. But
that ain't censorship.

I'm sure it isn't, but it can seem that way when an unusual topic is overlooked while readers suffer through an avalanch of restaurant ads and
constant pimping of handymen.

Crime is everywhere. People get mugged and killed in affluent neighborhoods all over the US.

Of course, ther are some folks who will complain that I'm whitewashing Baja. But..

On some level, I just have to wonder if posting something such as this on this forum doesn't actually do a disservice to Baja in general.

Take off the Rose Colored Glasses it has to be posted somewhere. It definately would be a dissiservice to sweep it under the rug as it was done in
this case.

At the risk of repeating myself, this story appeared in all the local media. The bulletin board isn't run by Jimmy Olson; it's a mechanism for getting
information out to the local community that is not available anywhere else (and even then we can't do it all).

Seems to me it was "posted somewhere." Use of the translator function in your browser or learning the language of the country you reside in might
alleviate your concern that bad news is being swept under the rug.

You might also want to explore other bulletin boards and forums that are not constrained by a community orientation, e.g., one operated by a member of
this bulletin board who does a very thorough job of reporting criminal activities throughout Baja and Mexico.

As I previously stated I knew about the incedent upon arrival home. I also stated There are people in this community that dont have a clue When it
comes to Reading or speaking Spanish That depend on YOUR buliten board for current events. It is those I worry about. Maybee if it wasn't such a
control issue you could share the duty of the board to a trusted servant. all in all you guys do a pretty good job. |
