Victoria beer from mexico?
who knows what about this one?
found at Total Wine chain while searching for mex brews.

I've had it, Mike. It's okay. I was underwhelmed by it. It's an old brewery now owned by Grupo Modelo, I think.

Mike, I have taklked about and shiown photos of Victoria Beer for years on Nomad... it is also now for sale here in California (incl. WalMart)...
Here is a photo I posted on Nomad last year when I ordered it with dinner in El Rosario at Ed's... Notice the bottle is the same as Pacifico's, which
is good to filter out light.
I find it a good drinking beer, sort of a cross between Pacifico and Superior in flavor.

Victoria was known to me (the Mexicans called it) disparagingly "Peetoria" for forty some odd years.

The number one beer from Mexico sold here is Corona (in a clear bottle)... and you can't get much peeier than that without going to an American brew,
like Bud.
I still like Pacifico and Dos Equis the best, but the others I drink (Tecate in Baja, Mexicali, Tijuana Guera, Carta Blanca, Superior, Sol, etc.) are
fine on a hot dusty trail or at home.

funny - the online consumer reports of Victoria suggest avoid it.
i'm not much of a beer drinker except when it is very hot and of course when in mexico.
but lately i've looked for darks or porters style to enhance or contrast the freezing temps we've had lately in AZ.
had 2 "kilt lifters" in a bar with friends visiting from Wisconsin last nite - pretty good stuff and high octane which i like in beer. Drink less qty
but get nice effect.
what ever happened to Colt 45?? 
so - to buy mex beer here i have to go for Negro modelo for taste and price. don't know where it is made or bottled on the USA stuff but many mexican
restaurants/bars have it on draft here and it is GOOD!

They sell them in Vons in Encinitas. Still migrate to Modelo Especial on both sides of the fence.

Drinking Mex en El Norte ?
LOVE Many Mexican Beers and (usually) drink nothing else In Mexico.
However, since two of the BEST Beers around, Heineken and Steinlager, are available for (about) the same price in the U.S., there is simply NO REASON
for me to drink anything different.
But, everybody has a different taste. That's why there's so many different brands.

We have begun to get a few German beers over here. Bitburger and Kostritzer (a Schwarzbier) are the ones I've tried so far. 500 ml cans, so I pour
them immediately. Heineken readily available also.
There's even cans of Sapporo at Soriana's and Wally World. But it's outrageous; 56 pesos for a can that looks to be about 500 ml.

Mike, my best description:
Medium light bodied, light brown color , slight malt, little hop,
dry.
Pairs good with chile rellenos.
My fav mex brew is Bohemia
This is a totally different beer and as good or better than most .
Miles above Tecate. Give it a try

i had my 1st Bohemias when we flew to Cabo in 1981. Loved it in bottle and drank it all day everyday.
we landed/parked at the old strip next to the Hotel Cabo San Lucas, got a taxi and stayed at the Mar De Cortez. Walked everywhere or took $2 cabs.
The marina was not yet built.

In central Mexico Victoria is kinda like water. It's inoffensive, wet and everyone drinks it...a LOT of it. Well, that and Indio. I don't know that
I'd call Victoria a "good" beer but it's easy to drink, a little thin on flavor that doesn't compete with chile based foods and sauces. And it's
cheap, or at least it used to be
Here's Peter Rowe's (the beer critic for the U/T) assessment of Victoria in the SD U/T from earlier this year when the beer was introduced in San Diego.
Two craft beers under the Rio Bravo label are being produced in Tecate (not by Tecate as far as I can tell).
I'll second GJ and Capt. Mike's thumbs up for Bohemia. I also like Montejo and Leon which are usually found on the east coast of Mexico (Yucatan,
Veracruz, Oaxaca)
I think my favorite Mexican beer right now is Cucapá Honey Wheat. Brewed in Mexicali, easily obtainable in San Diego.

It's been around for a while. I worked in a bar in Newport Bch in the 60's and we sold it there.
Sauza Gold was our well tequila and, at that time, considered very classy stuff. Now....it's on the shelf right next to the Drano.

Love Bohemia and especially their dark beer. When I first moved to Mexico I thought the world revolved around Corona. Then I tried Bohemia and never
looked back. I was especially pleased with myself when I learned how to pronounce it correctly.
