Aside from the sadness normally associated with demise. Why would the passing of a Restaurant Critic be of special note for other
than those who read the restaurant critiques ?

Just the other day I got a laugh out of the Dead Body in Palm Springs found electrocuted adjacent to the opened doors of an SCE 12KV Transformer.
Darwinian Humor.
BTW, I did think of another Cannibal Joke, but THAT one isn't fit for most company.

I like dark humor when it is not attached to a specific human being. In this case, the decedent was a journalist who had admirers and a family.
A writer, through themes common with the reader, becomes a real person whose soul touches another human being through their insights. They become
familiar and comfortable, like an old friend.
My condolences to her family.

....... Tecate were the only choice, I "might" give up Beer entirely.
THAT is a constant source of debate with a German friend who insists that Tecate is the BEST Mexican Beer. Because, of course, it was started by a
German.
Sadly (and I sincerely mean that), my taste for EVEN Heineken and Steinlager is usually maxed out at Two. Usually One. Rarely Three (at parties).
It's disheartening wanting to continue, but having the stomach say NO, NO, NO. At celebrations, I'm often asked WHY I'm not
sampling some of the more adventuresome fare. "Because it's Rude to Puke in Public".
Having, at one time (in the Summer) been able to drink Beer ALL day long and being one who followed the 'Can't Steer without my Beer" adage, I find
it's another negative aspect of aging.
I'm living proof that poor taste is not necessarily linked to Alcohol. I was considered a sarcastic S.O.B. in Grade-School and, by High School, had
been disciplined a LOT for attitude.
That said, on this thread, I simply Asked a Question. Others began the Jokes.

GOODWIN, JOAN GOLOMB Joan Golomb Goodwin, who wrote professionally under the moniker Naomi Wise, died on December 15, 2011, of complications from a C.
dificile infection. Ms. Goodwin was born on October 25, 1943 in Queens. She grew up next to Carnegie Hall and later attended the University of
Michigan. She knew her way around Greenwich Village like the back of her hand at the time folk music was in its fullest bloom when she first used
"Naomi Wise" as a teenager when she signed up on a list of performers to avoid paying a cover charge. She married Michael Goodwin in 1963. The
Goodwins moved to San Francisco and later drove from San Francisco to Chile, where they witnessed the coup of Salvador Allende. The Goodwins divorced
in 1993. However, the trip forever influenced her politics, love for travel and love for food. She traveled to Nepal, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago
and numerous other countries, where she always eagerly discovered new cuisines. Ms. Goodwin worked as a film critic for 20 years, interviewed famous
directors and wrote an unauthorized biography of Francis Coppola. She also worked as a social worker and as a freelance writer, reviewing restaurants
for local Bay Area publications. Despite her mother being an uninspired cook, Ms. Goodwin became a great cook and has four published cookbooks. In
2000, she left her beloved San Francisco to become the Food Editor and lead restaurant critic for the San Diego Reader, where she reviewed anonymously
and where a number of restaurants who received a positive review from her, prominently display her review. She never remarried, but lived with her
long-term boyfriend, T.J. Byers, until his death in 2007.
