Baja highway observations...

Besides livestock along the highway:

http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=57254

...other items of note were:

1. Many bicyclists along the highway, all the way down. This topic seems to be like religion or politics in bringing it up... but it was certainly a notable observation.

And a weird one to me...

2. Many ambulances on the highway with emergency lights lit. Seemed like we saw more than a dozen in just a few days. So many, that it made me think of the movie Cannonball Run where they used an ambulance to avoid police enforcement of speed violations...

When I was young, I admired clever people. Now that I am old, I admire kind people.
– Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel

We know we must go back if we live, and we don`t know why.
– John Steinbeck, Log from the Sea of Cortez

Maybe the Ambulances were tearing up and down the road in anticipation of squashed bicyclists !?!?!?!?!?!

Roadside obstacles...

Exercise is wonderful, but anyone who would chance riding a bicycle up and down La Bufadora Road seems to me has a death wish...what a dangerous situation!!! A friend of mine said he almost inadvertently avoided hitting a bicycler and knocking them off the steep cliff on the side of the road the other day...

We noticed the same thing on our Christmas to Punta Chivato and back on the way down we saw 3 sets of riders and one solo and on the way back 4 sets on riders. My wife always says they are crazy I always say I want to do that one day.

I still don't think there is any rhyme or reason behind the use of "emergency?" lights in Baja. In La Paz it is common to see the policia cruise around with their lights on for no apparent reason.
