Check the demographics of Los Angeles County.
The 2010 United States Census reported that Los Angeles County had a population of 9,818,605. In 2010, Non-Hispanic whites were 27.8% of the
population, compared to 80.5% in 1960. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4,687,889 persons (47.7%); 35.8% of Los Angeles County is Mexican.
There are more Mexicans living in Los Angeles County than in all of Baja California. Now do the right comparison. How many murders are there per day
in Baja California vs. Los Angeles County, which happens to have almost three times the population as Baja?

do you have 38 more chances of being murdered?
you're safer south of the border |
Homicide rate for Los Angeles County = 6.7 per 100,000
Homicide rate for Baja Califiornia = 27 per 100,000
Homicide rate for Baja California Sur = 16 per 100,000
What do you think, Bob? Do you think your chances of being murdered are higher when in an area where the murder rate is higher?
By the way, just out of curiosity, how did you determine one is safer south of the border when you did not even list the murders south of the border?
Wouldn't you need the figures from both north and south to reach such a conclusion? If you are going to present your conclusion that it is safer south
of the border, as a bare minimum, shouldn't you have at least shown the data upon which you reached your conclusion? How do you expect to establish
any credibility?

I knew as soon as I saw the thread that I could count of finding something from you, Mengano (that predictability thing I was talking about somewhere
else). You have a deep-rooted hatred for all things Mexican, so I'm left to wonder why you come to this site, primarily composed of people with the
opposite mentality. Do you really think your comments are swaying anyone?
Aren't there some skin-head-led sites that would be better-suited to your interests and where your efforts would be more appreciated?

There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

Hey Steve, as a cultural anthropologist, do you think that only the people who post here read this message board? Or is there a much broader audience
that reads here for content but which does not post?
What work have you performed to determine that my message is not wanted here? As an educated man, do you think Bob's analysis of the relative dangers
of Los Angeles County and Baja are based on any empirical data? Do you think his conclusion is grounded in the facts? If so, please provide those
facts. If not, please explain why you want to attack the kid who said the Emperor has no clothes.

Here we go again-------it's the "messenger" that is the problem.
NO, it is NOT the messenger-------- the problem is contained within the facts!!! To refuse to review the facts is to bury one's head in the sand, it
seems to me.
I see no "hatred" revealed here, only a reporting of what's happening according to the stats.
You can make up your own mind when you are armed with the facts, and it is THAT which happens on this board by Mengano, and I for one appreciate it.

chuck:
so you think google makes you an expert? i think you post data from internet without understanding the data or even bothering to think about it's
relevance. how are your statistics relevant to tourism? isn't it possible that many of the murders in mexico are in a subset of the population that
we could classify as drug warriors? aren't the majority of murders committed by family or acquaintances of victim? how do the stats even begin to
have relevance to crime in rural baja and resort areas visited by tourists?
how do the very general statistics you find on the internet even begin to have relevance to probability of tourists being victims?
please go back to the data set and compare US and mexican stats using only the subsets of tourists and retirees. we eagerly await your analysis!

A person with a greater mind than yours would have figured out before he posted that the same could be said for the Los Angeles County statistics. If
you want to have a debate on the characteristics of large samples when compared to the entire population, and perhaps student T-tests, why not start
another thread on that? I own that subject. Used to do those tests for a living. I can assure the rest of the folks here, that a sample of the entire
population of homicides taken over an entire year from the entire population of a political entity, which has population numbers in the
multi-millions, is an adequate sample size. Would like to test me on it?
Your BS red herring arguments won't work on me. You are a scientific fraud waiting to be exposed.

Maybe you or Mengano / Fulano / Chucky (take your pick folks...they'll all the same guy) can tell us the stats for how many toilet flushes there were
on that day too, in Mexicali.
Now...I'm back to more important stuff like watching the I Love Lucy Show.
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.
